I am probably being thick and missing something obvious but I am having trouble with my Vamo and I am hoping someone will say 'ahhh you've forgotten to.....' and the problem will be solved!
It's a V2, about 4 or 5 months old, bought it from fasttech.
I have a variety of tanks, a couple of original protanks, a protank 2, a protank mini.
Over the last few days all of those tanks have stopped working, sometimes mid tank, sometimes after changing the coil, sometimes after refilling. The resistance display reads 9.9 ohm which I believe means a short? However the tanks will work normally if I put them on an ego twist battery.
I have just got the protank 2 to work with an evod head in, but other evod heads read 9.9? I tried several protank heads and all read 9.9. The heads are a mixture of fresh from factory and ones i have recoiled (and all read around 2 ohms on the same vamo when I recoiled them a week or so ago).
I tried lifting the centre pin a little but it doesn't make any difference, i.e. I lift the pin, try a 'duff' head - reads 9.9, put the 'good' evod head back on (without lifting the pin again) and it works fine.
I tried a brand new Protank mini 2 just now and it seems to work so it seems to be more the original protanks that won't work. I can't see anything obvious but could I have done anything to the bases which is stopping them working?
Gah. After reading that back I am not sure anyone will be able to help but it has to be worth a try - if you can make head or tail of that rambling you deserve a stiff drink!

Sal .. check that the 510 pin in the bottom of the tank is sitting central and not touching the negative (threaded) part as this would cause a short ... if it is not central, move it a bit with a fine screwdriver in the centre of the pin.

Other possible causes if they have been recoiled, are that the coil is touching the side of the base or that the wire ends have not been cut off short enough and are shorting.

@freefromsmoking thank you! I am getting so frustrated I might have to cry soon The centre pin 'seems' to be central but I think it might be something like that. I just tried three more coils, all read 9.9 in the protank (original) bases but were ok in the mini protank base?? I don't think they are shorting as they work on the ego battery and in the mini protank head? It happens with factory heads too. The mini base does seem to push the centre pin down, I had to lift it slightly after I put that one on (I am careful not to over tighten). Could I have damaged the centre pin somehow which would stop the protank base working? It looks ok but..... I really need you to move a few doors down from me actually so that I could just pop round!!

9.9ohms indicates that no circuit is being made, not a short. Most likely explanation is that the insulator surrounding the centre pin of the Vamo's connector is beginning to collapse, and the pin itself is failing to contact the centre pin of your atties.
First remedy: use a small jeweller's screwdriver to prise the Vamo's centre pin up, taking care that when you're done, it's sitting central in the 510 connector and not touching the threads. It's only necessary to raise it a couple of mm. This will only work temporarily. If you over-tighten an atty onto the Vamo, or use one with a particularly prominent centre pin, it will push the Vamo connector down, and you will need to do it again. And again, and increasingly often.
You can also prise the connector out far enough to slip an o-ring over it, and then push it back in again. I have a V2 of similar vintage, and it's at that stage. I suggest you pick up an airflow control adapter, and once you've done the prising the connector up thing, keep the afc adapter permanently screwed into the Vamo, and screw the atties on top. This will stave off the next stage of Vamo decrepitude, which will be the connector threads giving up....

I really need to start reading threads carefully Sal ... 9.99 is not a short circuit, it is an open circuit ie: there is no current going through the coil .... the tank is not making contact with the battery, so check that the 510 pin of the tank is not recessed or the 510 pin on the battery is not pushed down too far ... move them up or down using the usual screwdriver method if either of them needs adjusting. remnant thank you so much, that sounds like it may well be the problem. I feel a bit anxious about prising the centre pin out far enough to put an o ring over it, could I pull it right out? If I can i probably will! Where would I get an airflow adapter from?

Sal as remnant has mentioned a 9.9 ohms reading usually indicated that there is no complete circuit. What you could try rather than fiddling with your Vamo is to get a 510 Airflow Controller as the connection is slightly longer, which should solve your 9.9 ohms error. I have MOD`s that give the same error reading and once the 510 Airflow Controller is on then all my Atty`s work fine. Griff

Hi@sal, www.vapercaper.co.uk/products/510-airflow-controller. This is where I got mine from as I have the same issue. Must say though it only worked for a little while,my vamo no longer works and I am lost without it,even though I vowed would never own one. I hope it's a more permanent fix for you *fingers*v
