Hi, I’m Chris and I’m a nicoholic. I surrendered myself to the ‘higher power’ of vaping a couple of months ago and it’s been just over 3 weeks since I last had a cigarette. , that has to be the worst introduction ever, so maybe I should just explain why I decided to sign up here. I’ve posted and lurked on a few other forums, and have found that some people in the vaping community are a bit stuck up their own a***s. Here are a few examples: When I first joined a certain forum and asked for advice about what to upgrade to from my Ego-T, I was told that I should buy a Provari. When I asked about trying out dripping on a budget, the conversation turned to the wonders of the Atomic RDA. And when I asked whether the Protank was better than the Vivi Nova, I was told that I should buy a Kayfun and was blinded with science about checking resistances, different types of wire and rebuildable atomizers. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have a problem with people who enjoy the more complex and technical side of vaping. And I’m sure that Provaris and suchlike are great devices. But it felt like no-one was considering my budget or my very limited amount of experience. I worked some stuff out for myself about vaping along the way and some of the advice I received was helpful, but I never really felt like I belonged to the kind of people who regularly pay £200 for a mod, spend their time fiddling with complicated expensive gear and look down on others who choose to buy something simpler and more affordable. To be honest, I just wanted something reliable that kept me off the stinkies and gave me a feeling of satisfaction at a reasonable price. I saved up and gradually upgraded my setup until I had a little collection, but I felt embarassed about talking about it on forums because a lot of it is at the cheaper end of the spectrum (and you can’t mention clones or FT in some places without causing endless arguments! ) Anyway, I started lurking here a few days ago, and was amazed by how friendly everyone is. It seems that I’ve come across a forum full of people who share my love of vaping, and who aren’t at all pretentious and don’t look down on people with less sought-after devices. Reading through the posts here, I was struck by how little sarcasm and how few arguments I found – just a bunch of friendly people who enjoy a good vape without taking it too seriously. I better shut up now before I start hugging a tree (I’ve already waffled on for far too long!), but I just want to say that I really look forward to being part of this friendly forum.

A very warm welcome to you Chris. We don't do pretentious, what's that all about over anything. Make yourself at home. Thanks Perpetua, I'm glad to be here. I've met some very nice people on vaping forums, but also far too many cliquey and annoying people. That's why I joined here, because you seem all to be friendly and down to earth. And you're spot on about pretentiousness. With a bit of luck and a lot of saving, I might join the Provari owners' club one day, but please shoot me if I ever turn my nose up at people who don't wear the t shirt!

I don't ever turn my nose up at anyone, over anything tbh Chris . . . it's lovely to have nice things in your life, but they're not essential are they. If you can afford to treat yourself ( we all need treats ) then all well and good. But life goes on without them. Being happy, healthy and treating others decently are far more important to me. Saying that, I've a small dog here looking at me with pleading eyes, so I best get him walked. Catch you later.

Hi chris86 and a huge welcome to this lovely forum! I wouldn't be half as far along my vaping journey without this incredible group of people. I have had so much help, no one ever minds you asking the same question twice - or more - everyone wants everyone to enjoy their new hobby and quit the evil weed. Hope to hear lots more from you

Hello and welcome! We are all vapers here no matter if we use Provaris and Kayfuns or Egos and iClears. I'd agree with you about the elitism shown on a certain forum and that's why I made this my home.

Welcome chris86, this forum got me started on the cheapest vaping kit possible when I explained my lack of budget. Like a lot of people I started on the cigalikes, although they kept me off the ciggies they weren't that economic, so I was advised to get some boge cartomisers and juice and get some more use out of my cigalike batteries for a while. They explained how to fill the boges and where to find the cheapest ones. The folk on here are so kind, one lovely person even offered to send me some of his own kit to keep me going! No question is too silly, they have been my lifeline for months now. I have moved on kit wise but my questions are still just as silly... So come on in, pull up a chair and join the friendliest ecig forum in the world...

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. It's great to be around people who have their heads screwed on. There's nothing worse than just starting out with a small budget and being told that it's not even worth bothering with vaping unless you spend £200+ on equipment! In the past month or so I have really caught the bug and got some better gear (my most prized possession is a Throathit Twin vv mod with an eBaron dripper), but I feel that it was important for me to build up to that at my own pace by gradually learning about set ups and not spending more than I was comfortable with. When I first started, I was almost totally put off by the thought of having to spend loads in order to vape! In the end, I saved up for the Throathit and I don't regret buying it at all - in fact I feel that having had to save up for my only relatively expensive mod probably means I value it more than if I could afford to buy fancy mods all the time!

Hi Chris and welcome to AAEC. We are a bunch of people who want to help and seek help from other vapers, we are non-judgemental , not 'clicky' crowd who will support anyone who is just starting with the ins and outs of vaping. I have vaped for 18 months and still got a lot of learning to do, I know what my budget is and will never buy what I cannot afford. I have saved a lot of money since I started vaping and try to spend wisely.
