Hi
I have just ordered 250ml of 7.2 nic based VG for under £30. Is this a good deal? If my calculations are correct I can add 750ml of glycerin and I will have 1 litre of unflavoured nic based glycerin at 1.8 mg which I can add flavour to and vape on the cheap for months. That's around the same price as about 6 packets of cigarettes plus concentrate, if I am right.
Which is best? 50 - 50 PG/VG or 80 - 20? I like a good amount of vapour and a good throat hit.
I am currently using a vv set to 5v and an I30 atty which I find very good on pre-mixed liquids.
Your advice will be appreciated as I am not in to mixing as yet.

Hi, When I first started mixing I made up 10 5ml bottles, one of each pg/vg. 90/10, 80/20, 70/30 etc. I settled on 50/50 in the end. I think it's down to personal taste in the end. With some vendors you would be lucky to get 250ml of 18mg/ml for that price. I have just paid slightly less, but yours is still a good deal. You really do get your juice at a much better price with diy, and you get to control the strength of flavour and nicotine. I find it real easy to drop by 1-2mg per month. Have you bought your pg and vg yet?

I think you're calculations are correct yesitsme, but the flavour will reduce the nic level. If you use 20% flavour, I make it 1.44mg. Looks a good deal to me, but I haven't bought nic recently, and there are different qualities of nic (not that that seems to matter to most vapers). Vapour & throat hit is a trade off - more VG for more vapour but less throat hit. So you have to try different levels and see what you like. You may turn out to be like me, and like the vapour some of the time, the throat hit others. And you may change after a while. And if you use different flavours or different attys now or later, that can change things. So I wouldn't mix too much at any %VG, at least at first. You might as well start by matching a premade that you like. Assume the flavour is PG.

Yes, you will have 1lt of 100% VG nic @ 18mg. But you then ask about 50/50 or 80/20, if you have been vaping for about 7 months, then you surely must have an idea of what ratio you prefer? Also what do you want the final mg content of your mix to be, because using an 18mg 100 VG base does not give you a lot of wriggle room at those ratios.

What mg juice do you normally vape? If you vape at 18mg i wouldn't add more than 550ml of glycerin & that would leave you room to add up to 20% flavouring to knock it down to 18mg. Don't take this as gospel, it's just a rough guess. My advice would be to only mix small quantities to start with 'cos once you've diluted your nic base there's no going back & different flavourings need different % added to acheive the required result & this will affect your final mg per ml. Get yourself a juice calculator or use one of the on-line ones like this www.c9v-forum.com/Resources/Calc/calc.htm

If you pre dilute it, you are stuck with that ratio and limited in strength. Much better to keep it as is and then you can play with ratios each time you make up a mix.
