Shame you cant post link if marked at private, but I've been doing the same... it could end up with the blind following the blind scenario....... Just going to check they are all private, they should be

Yes I mix at 25%, steep for 3 weeks or it's quite chemically. Tastes same as premix to me 
Jim advised you can go over 25 if you wish but be careful, 27 could be fantastic but 28 awful, I've stuck at 25.

Just find a bit more fruity taste would be good,
He suggested 30% but did warn a % difference can tip the balance between vapable and not. 
Think I'll just try one at 25% and one at 30% regards a fruit menthol and do a taste challenge! I can mix two together and get 27.5% if ones too weak and ones far to strong(or just naff).

So going to start with lime/menthol, blackcurrent/menthol variants and some 25% Black Gold for mrs from JJ Conc...
...And Apple and gooseberry straight from Cupcake world

CCW's Christmas Cake I wouldn't bother mixing period, it tastes nothing like cake, just an almondy flavour.

Can't advise with JJ concentrates as I've never tried any  . . . but with any new flavours, I do my lick test to get a bit of an idea as to how strong they might be, neat on the tongue. It's not scientific or hard and fast, but it does help me anyway to help decide how much to go for initially.

Christmas cake was impulse buy, as it was Xmas, maybe try then put in swaps, we'll see. Have not liked any cake/desert flavours so far anyhow so don't know what I was thinking really!

Can I ask though Perpetua, you say you use 9% in a recipe, is it likely that I need to be a precise as that with mixing in general if not trying to recreate eliquid equivalents of foods/drinks?

Maybe I'll be able to judge by just a lick when I've been mixing as long as you, I'll have a taste and see if can learn this technique sounds a good idea.


Edit.. knew I'd forgotten something! need some sweetener etc! will just have to see if need!

Tbh, my mixing technique doesn't operate in the realms of exactitude boyofford, life's too short to angst about a bit more or a bit less flavouring ( with the exception of some of the really potent flavours ) we don't mix ' professionally ' so if a mix varies very slightly from batch to batch, personally it doesn't bother me in the slightest.

But that's just my take on it, mixing ought to be fun as well as means to an end. There's no fun for me scrutinizing marks on a syringe with a fine toothcomb, if you mixed your Gooseberry at 10/11/12% I'm sure it wouldn't make much of a difference to the overall end result.

I'd pop a little sweetener in it, 1% is good for most mixes and isn't too much to gunk coils that quickly, it is quite a sharp flavour - but very nice I think.

..I bought more concentrates the other day, as liberty flight discount was still standing (as Id had stuff in basket for 2 weeks... 25% cant be sniffed at!) I wanted some pluid, yes it is a guest e-liquid so no discount, but I love the stuff and wanted an Xmas treat... somehow I spent £35 ???

My mixing issue, as always is: I never seem to have the right brand as the recipe suggests. So I'm just going to make up as stated with whichever brand I have for now - as a newbie mixer I'm probably not going to be able to tell the difference as my taste buds aren't fine tuned yet

that's fine to do that, make the recipes your own.  The only thing to watch out for is that some concentrates are stronger than the one in the recipe or vice versa so you would have to adjust accordingly

I'm in the same boat as yourself Pepperty.  Have some stuff sitting in the shopping basket at Liberty and was hoping they'd get in new stock of the flavours needed for making Rom's fluid recipe, but still no sign of it.     Might have to just buy whatever I can to make it up as I go along and keep everything crossed it's not rubbish in the end.  What could possibly go wrong?

Same here. I tend to have to substitute brands with some flavourings.
But hey ho my taste-buds are probably shot. Oh and I'm still waiting for a full review on Pluid.
