Crossed posts with you chykensa - had some slight roof damage a few days ago on my cottage & fences down on my new property - but over all not too bad (touch wood). Not surprised you aren't looking forward to going out Andy, please take care.

Don't worry Chrissie, I'm sat watching TV and planning a route that will get me there and back whilst avoiding high ground and trees!!

Chrissie - home safe and sound; lots of blowy stuff, but not as bad as it has been! Hope the St. Austell bay area is not too bad tonight xx

I remember ney year a few years back, it was mental wind up here and we were out and about. Anyway came to driving home and that was where the fun started, trees lying across roads all over the place. Eventually found a road home that was doable but even it had it's issues. There were a few cars all stuck at this one point so I got out and had a look at the situation, in the end we all took turns helping out to hold this tree up so people could drive under it. It was pretty cool the way everyone came together so we could all get home.
Eventually got home and no electric, not surprising really considering how mental it had been. Just lit the fire and some candles and got on with it. The power ended up being off for a few days. By the end I was desperate for some leccy lol. Also the wife had all these smelly candles that we were burning and they were really killing my throat and lungs and I though smoking was bad!
Nowadays it seems that the trees that were ready to fall have generally all fallen, or maybe the wind just hasn't blown in the same direction but we've had mad wind since but never had so many roads choked.

As if we haven't had enough to contend with, we are having the mother of all thunderstorms now!!!!! Just spent the last 10 minutes unplugging as much as I can around the house to mitigate the chances of a power surge as our power lines are overhead, not underground. I'm on my laptop battery, so will have to retire soon

Hold onto your hats, Kernow, it's all kicking off again tomorrow!! We're on an Amber Warning for wind and rain. Forecast is 30mm of rain in 6 hours! and winds up to 80mph. Oh for a cold frosty and still morning - I really don't mind scraping the ice off my windscreen at 7.30am if it means I can see the blue skies and feel cold - honest

It's already here & we're on orange alert too & I have to drive down to Rennes. When Mother Nature her flexes her arm, we all know about it. It will be sweeping across, causing more misery & an awful lot are going to cop it, with too many already flooded or on the brink of being flooded not needing the accompanying torrential rain, let alone the wind. Stay safe all!

So far just rain here awaiting wind, were on severe, mainly sea front, just hope whats left of the pier survives as there starting work this year to rebuild it after the fire,if it does then its stronger than most thought, also peeps spare thoughts for the Yanks had loads of prayers etc sent from them on FB,they never knew how bad it has been till i posted some pics, now some of them have mother natures arm hitting them, yesterday gaming friend said they had 16" of snow in less than 12hrs,some states even more
