We've got wind!!

Hi all
With the exception of zeldamum who lives about 5 miles West of me, I think I am the most westerly mainland member of this forum.
We are currently experiencing 80mph storm force winds, with torrential rain and coastal and watercourse flooding. Those of you who remember the Cornish coastline may have new cliffs, beaches and ports and resorts to visit next time you are down; north coast beaches are being scraped clean of all sand, cliffs are collapsing at a frightening rate, and walls, roads and buildings both residential and commercial are being flooded or washed away by the relentless pounding of the Atlantic. St. Ives, Penzance, Portreath, Perranporth, Newquay, Looe and Fowey are just some of the places which are at this very moment having severe problems with too much H2O!!
This is what I use for my weather forecasts - click on the "Latest actual weather readings here" at the top of the page under the title. This weather station is at Gwennap Head which also has a National Coastwatch Institution lookout which sends regular weather readings to the Met. Office and keeps a look out over passing shipping and other traffic both waterborne and pedestrian.

Our overhead power lines are obviously suffering - I now have a torch on the table next to me just in case!!

Since I first posted the wind has dropped about 20mph. It's forecast to be at or near gale force until this time tomorrow though

Too right Raffles, the days are lengthening by 4 minutes daily so can't be all bad!

Tis blowing a gale out there, just looking at a local webcam and sea is looking a bit choppy See here at the moment.
