There is good and bad in every country, every county, but the only place I have ever had decent fish n chips is west Yorkshire that is all I can say oh- other than they need to be cooked in dripping - did I say that?

Yes, but it's Yorkshire fish & chip wars in the main. If I cook them here, then they're always done in beef dripping, but it's too much faff & so it's a rarity. There is a French resto 20mins from me, Le Bistrot du Marin, they do them & they are really good, always packed there & mostly it's fish & chips being eaten & they were taught by Brits. The write up for them states, fish & chips, Irish stew & tete de veau! ETA: www.linternaute.com/restaurant/restaurant/131817/le-bistrot-du-marin.shtml pic doesn't do the place justice.

Forget the fish - there's nothing quite like a good haggis supper! It's one of the things I really, really miss since moving south of the border.

Mcewans haggis - now excuse me if that is wrong but I aint Scottish. Not sure what a haggis supper is, I just eat half the haggis with whatever I fancy.

Anything with chips in Scotland is a 'supper', they do haggis in batter, deep fried (in lard, of course! May well have changed that now I suppose) and gorgeous if you get a good one.

Haggis is ace, and I don't eat meat I'm not vegetarian, although meat is murder as Morrissey would say, but spice it up, and I can't taste it. A succulent large donner smothered in the hottest chilli sauce aint meat cos it don't taste of meat, just like haggis. What was that you were saying about northern birds Steve 8 pints of lager and a kebab, crash and face the world tomo.
