Im a chef lol, and I did not know that, might have to try It You have to try it but i don't think any online recipe will do it justice, it's the heart and core of Pie and Mash and i don't think any Pie and Mash shops will give their recipe for it any day soon

Ahhh for the good old days....real food, real beer and being able to on a night out without the inevitable threat from some idiot who can't handle alcohol and insists on trying to prove to themselves just how macho they are. But on a happy note, have got a "Harry Ramsdens " chippy nearby me.

So have i, tried it and they take the goodness of good old fish and chips away, they provide dried out fish and chips....think they have gone all healthy malarkey crap and have took out all of the good old greasy fish and chips side away. Nothing better than greasy (not to greasy though) fish and chips covered in salt and vinegar/onion juice walking along on a wintery day

Fish and chips also depends where you live. They should be cooked in lard not oil- however if you have only ever have them cooked in oil you would hate lard. They should be served in newspaper , not a golden coloured polystyrene carton. They should have proper salt and vinegar put on them in the chip shop. The chips should be fat, we are not American or even trying to be. They should be fresh - not warmed up. I have only ever had fish and chips as a treat, and at todays prices where I live ( over £6 ) it will stay that way. However it was a treat, and you darn well enjoyed them. Our local chippy is now dire, and I used to travel there when I wasn't local it was so good. We have the cartons, or a polystyrene tray , the fish has shrunk, scraps are non exhistant, and the amount of chips has halved. The fish is still good, but god it repeats on you, and the chips are scabby and scrappy. What is going on I have no clue, but they are no longer proper fish and chips. All of the above is very true.....So many people have said to me that West Yorkshire have the best fish & Chips Try the Barracuda Chippie next time you pass through Ossett in West Yorkshire Its not healthy but its gotta be cooked in dripping not Veg Oil

sammy13Down here we don't tend to have gravy with our fish and chips - just fish, chips, maybe mushy peas, and a pickle or two if you're going for nostalgia. Curry sauce if your at the right sort of establishment. Liquor is for your pie and mash. Top fish of choice is cod. However, when I lived in Lancaster, you had gravy with it although I did find a few with good curry sauce as well. Couldn't get a bit of cod for love nor money - it was all haddock, and very nice it was too!

I don't cook Fish and Chips, i was just basing that on Harry Ramsden fish and chips and that they have gone all healthy with what they use to cook their fish and chips, i like greasy fish and chips not dried out prunes

Dripping all the way, oil is rank. Will check out that place defiantely.
