barrynorton... Whilst I have every admiration for the scientists etc researching all cancers, I believe it's the administrators of these organisations that are playing politics with people's lives. No packaging pictures, hiding them from sight behind screens etc has much effect, just makes it more of an adventure for the youngsters to get hold of them. Also we all know the dismal success rate of current NRT products. I really did think there would be a more measured response from CRUK. They are surely not that naive are they? Have added my two pennyworth to the comments on their page. Far more 'thumbs up' than 'down'.

Who's idea was it to throw e-cigs in a Tobacco directive?
CRUK's "dream" will never be a reality. They need to wake up and smell the Custard.
Landmark vote, my backside. In a few years from now, Smoking rates will be the same (oooh, maybe 0.2% lower) and the option of using an alternative might be seriously compromised.

I wonder if they took into account at Strasbourg the opinions of like minded people such as myself that couldn't give a toss about anything they have to say as they don't speak for me.

My comment to them.
As others have said the TPD will do nothing but bring down one of the best safer alternatives to smoking down to the same level as NRT, in other words a failure. While people were so busy bashing smoking and anything that looks like it they managed to kill the one chance that long term smokers have to stay off smoking long term. Good job! Just look at Snus as an example of ridiculous legislation that kills far more than it saves. Snus was banned a long time ago and lots have died from smoking related illnesses in that time that Snus may have had the chance to save, now it's Ecigs. The EU doesn't learn/ care, nor does public health, NGOs like yourselves and tobacco control. All complicit in causing many 1000s of needless deaths. Anything that reduces the effectiveness of ecigs reduces the benefits to smokers. I also agree that as ecigs don't cause cancer they aren't your concern.

Although I wouldn't be happy with cancer research UK if they backed the ban on ecigs or remained neutral I will still support the charity. Cancer comes in all forms, effects all people , doesn't have to be smoking related. So I personally will still keep my monthly donations active.
As Spok said sometimes the needs of the many outway the needs of the one.
In this case and I speak for myself , the need to aid a charity which is researching a cure into cancer outweighs my need for vaping ( in the long run).

Interesting - not long after posting someone at CRUK was checking me out on LinkedIn Spooky... And yet in the news today we regard Russia as a 'secret society'... and even right at home regarding NI secret deals. But that's another whole 'can of worms' for a different thread. Just be careful Barry if someone hands you a 'brown envelope' while someone else takes a pic.

This is me these days on the beach fast asleep with an e-cig hanging from my lips (just haven't got a smiley to depict that scenario)
