This is a quote from one of the comments on the site... and it does make you think, especially after the stance they are taking. Probably going a bit too far, but it would appear they are going to lose a lot of donations.

You can get medical grade VG and PG from Boots. That's not going to change.

Have just posted yet another comment on the CRUK site, and made a very difficult decision... I've cancelled my monthly donation to them, which has run for several years. I need to be careful as to what I say, but I do not like what I'm reading. Needless to say, this money will be diverted to 'hopefully' a more pro-active cause against cancer, with no outside influences!

If you think Linda McAvan is a hero, I’d hate to meet you. E-cigarettes offer a step change away from tobacco usage to a safer, cleaner, healthier alternative. And she chose to try to ban them. Shame on you.

Here is my comment just added to the site (as far as McAvans' nomination goes, well words just fail me)

‘A switch of only 1% of smokers a year from smoking to less harmful nicotine sources, a conservative target, could save around 60,000 lives in only 10 years. Cancer Research UK calls for pure nicotine products (and other cessation products) to be more affordable, attractive and available (e.g. sold over the counter) and for tobacco products to be less affordable, attractive and available’
How strange, this is from CRUKs Policy Statement, easy to find via Google. This must only refer to Pharma products though, as CRUK are jumping up and down and patting themselves on the back over the major restrictions being introduced for ecigs.
How hypocritcal is it possible for them to be? How about this from the same statement?
‘More attractive and efficient pure nicotine products which contain only nicotine and not any other tobacco constituents are needed for heavily addicted smokers, in particular the most disadvantaged, to relieve their cravings without the harmful effects of smoking.‘
I guess these products are only worth supporting if the manufacturers provide you with a few £100,000 to play with!

Where do you start?

A special mention goes to Linda McAvan MEP who steered the draft law through the European Parliament. Linda has been nominated MEP of the year – a reflection of her work on TPD – and we will be rooting for her on 18 March when the results are announced.

The world has gone totally and utterly bonkers. Insanity has taken over the house and turned it onto a lunatic asylum.

Linda McAvan has made a very, very, bad mistake. There is just no sane reason for e-cigs to be in the same "Directive" as cigarettes.
The two are totally independent in regard to safety to the user.
Pushing through tobacco regulation *might* be a worthy goal. Throwing e-cigs into the mix in a way that compromises their use is unforgivable.
She thinks she's done the right thing, but she doesn't get it. Mess with e-cigs = people continue to smoke or return to smoking.
Every person that now dies from smoking who could have quit smoking for vaping is now on her C.V. of what her contribution to humanity amounts to.
Who knows what will be left in 2016, but every death should be on her conscience.... and the conscience of every MEP who allowed this disgraceful travesty.

2 separate products requiring two differing approaches. ANYBODY can see that.

The efforts of environment, public health and food safety committee member Linda McAvan have been highlighted due to her hard work in delivering parliament's revised tobacco products directive. The British deputy fought a determined campaign to ensure that tobacco products are not made attractive to young people, in an attempt to tackle what she describes as an "important public health problem in Europe". Among the adopted measures is a requirement for all tobacco packets to carry a health warning covering 65 per cent of their surface. Those nominating the S&D MEP also praised her commitment to the directive in light of "fierce" lobbying by the tobacco industry, and for doing it within the current legislative period of the European parliament. McAvan has also produced noteworthy efforts on many parliament reports on pharmacovigilance and drug safety.
