Unprotected (the vamo has the protection), flat top. But buy decent ones - those efests enjay recommends would be fine, or something from Torchy. Probably best not to get batteries from China, more because of postage issues than safety. Get a good charger too, there's some dangerous stuff out there. Intellicharger (I2 or I4) seems to be the current favourite. China is fine for that. I wouldn't stack 18350s in the vamo, whatever the manual says.

I bought the vamo v5 from myepack, they came with batteries that are button top. That's fine, the buttons don't really matter. Normally though, other things being equal, I'd get without buttons for unprotected batteries because some people seem to think that is the standard, and because in general it is easy to add length - stretching the spring, or add a small magnet - but it can be trickier to solve the problem on some mods if the battery is too long.

Protected batteries won't work in a vamo Protected batteries will work in the Vamo provided they have a sufficient amp rating, however, a protected battery is not required as the device provides it's own protection circuit, so the general concensus is that unprotected batteries are the preferred option. My Wife has been using 2 Sennybor protected batteries in her Vamo for the last 18 months without issue, they still perform as good as day 1 with no signs of tailing off, never drop below 3.6v by the end of the day before recharging every night, high mah rating & 5.6amp limit which is plenty for the vast majority of vapers. One of my better vape related buys, a bargain from Torchy.
