Hi CaptainChaos and to aaec. I really hope you don't buy the Jacvapour. You'll only be back on here in a week or two saying how useless it is and asking what to buy next. Best to save that wasted money and put it towards something that will actually work well. The kit linked by enjay is a much better option. Whatever you decide, the people here are a great bunch and will answer any questions you have. We were all new at some point and there's no such thing as a stupid question around these parts.

Thanks .... I think my biggest worry (after smoking 20 - 30 real cigarettes per day and always having them to hand) is that I'll get the starter kit & I'll either run out of battery life or flavour or the coil will burn out or whatever it does before ordering more of everything so I don't need to worry about running out with no way of carrying on NOT smoking. <<< Mr. Paranoid Hi and welcome to AAE-C! As good as the EVOD starter kit is, if you were willing to spend the sort of money that Jacvapour charge for their starter kits, I'd recommend having a look at this myepack.co.uk/mods/itaste-mvp-v2-0-metal-grain.html. It is an extremely well built bit of kit and there is a small army of MVP V2 lovers on AAE-C and members who use similar mods who'll be happy to answer any questions you might have about using it. The battery in the MVP is the same size as four of the little EVOD batteries from that starter kit and you can use it while it is plugged in and charging. It is also the best vape you'll get from something that is as easy and hassle free to use. But you are right to be worried about running out of battery power, juice or heads and just like everything in life, all gear will break or stop working as well eventually. So most of us have backup gear or even backups for our backup and spares for everything! So if you do decide that the MVP is for you, I'd also recommend buying a small eGo/EVOD battery and charger as well as a couple of clearos (tanks) and some spare heads for them. But as others have said, as confusing as all of this might seem, we can point you in the right direction for anything you'll need to buy and help you with usage and keeping it running. Just ask

Really don't go for the jacvapour. Myepack deliver within a day or so. They are far far better.... And like Perpetua said - back ups for your back ups. This is early days for you......you need them - rest assured. I know they have 'cigalikes' (e-cigs that look like cigarettes) at the local store but they are not worth the money (poor battery life for one)... I would go for the evod kit from myepack that has already been linked to and some juice from joose juice Happy vaping and when/if you want to upgrade they'll be plenty of folk that will help you spend your hard earned pennies on here LOL

Hello and welcome
Can't knock the JacVapour stuff as they got me off the cigs (and are quite useful as a super stealthy vape). I keep one in my emergency out and about stash just in case. After about a month on them I moved up to the Evods kit from myepack, swiftly followed by the mini protank kit x 2 from the same vendor.
Never looked back since!

Hi Captain, Get stuck in mate I've been vaping for a whole 5 days I was a heavy smoker for over 50 years and stopped after my first session of vaping. I know it all sounds confusing! I must admit it's still confusing now. But I've got a good ecig so I'll stick with that until I understand a little more. The help and advice you will get on this forum is second to none

Welcome CaptainChaosI'm hoping you recognise my user name (albeit without the "vapour" bit)... from ECF forum. I had some JacVapour ecig kit. It nearly got me off the cigarettes, but sadly not entirely. They sell both "look-a-likes" and proper eGo ecigs. I wouldn't recommend the "big" equipment. NOT at all. Basically, it's more expensive versions of readily available kit. It would be like buying a coffee machine for more or less the same price as all the other coffee machines, then spending an extra 20% on everything for it. On the surface all these things seem cheap (compared to smoking), but over a long period... The "look-a-likes" will be much of a much-ness. A KR808 D-1kit is the same the world over. I have two. 1 x JacVapour, 1 x from another vendor. One costs far less to run. - - - -

It seems that the Evod Starter Kit seems to be a good way to start so I'll look into that one.
I don't want to get something like the MVP2 until I am REALLY used to the difference in vaping - that would be like being 18, passing my driving test & buying a Lamborghini a day later - yes, very nice, but it'll end in tears hahahaha
A few more questions for you who know:
Do batteries run out of charge when they're not used?
What do coils actually do? Do I need loads of them?
Some people say "get the variable voltage" but others say "don't get that until you are familiar with vaping". What do you think?
Can I charge the ecig using the USB plugged into a mobile phone wall plug?
Clearomizers/Cartomizers - what's the difference?
I do have loads more questions, but I'll only start with the above for now as I don't want my brain to explode just yet!
Cheers
Ian

Do I need loads of them? - They're the heating element, get warm and vaporize your eliquid. It's wise to have spares.
Some people say "get the variable voltage" but others say "don't get that until you are familiar with vaping". What do you think? Go for it. Can I charge the ecig using the USB plugged into a mobile phone wall plug? As far as know, yes. But am no mobile phone expert.
Clearomizers/Cartomizers - what's the difference? Have a read of this thread. allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/thread/28309/pics-vids-get-started-abbreviations?page=1&scrollTo=513677I do have loads more questions, but I'll only start with the above for now as I don't want my brain to explode just yet! Cheers Ian Have you not bought anything yet Ian . . . it's best to not over think things and just get stuck in, then take it from there.

No - I am still looking through the myepack site over & over thinking "shall I get THAT one" and "shall I get THAT one?"
I know I'll need 200 batteries, millions of flavours, several hundred Cartomizers, a few billion Coils.
I've been smoking for 20 years plus so it's a life changing event for me - please be gentle!!
Cheers
Ian

Stop thinking and get buying Ian . . . you're wasting valuable vaping time. It's almost a given, that after your first purchase you'll be looking at other things to add to your collection . . . I'd been a smoker for 36 years, come the finish knocking back 40/50 cigs a day. No one could have been more committed than me, I smoked at every available opportunity. Next month it will be 4 years since I sparked up, how I regret the time wasted discovering our wonderful habit and with the kit available now, it's more enjoyable than ever.

CaptainChaos - just take it easy - you will be fine - and I don't see why you should not immediately get a variable voltage/wattage battery - wished now I did - as for the tops - you need to try it out - some here prefer bottom coils some top coils - that's a question of taste - maybe you want to get yourself a simple clearo = top coils and an evod = bottom coil and see what you prefer - not too much tobacco flavours and certainly not too low on nicotine - the rest is trying out - but as far as the batteries or mods are concerned - go for a good one right from the beginning - the itaste vv is just under £20 and easy to charge - then you can go from there you certainly don't waste any money on the vaping gear - just think of the piles of wasted money with the cigs = ending up in a pile of ash - and if you really don't like a certain battery - you can always trade it here

Hi Ian and welcome I stopped 8 weeks ago after 38 years , at first I whent to our local vape shop & they set me up with a ego battery, evod tank (copy),charger & a bottle of juice (spearmint) to get me going for £20 . It was the best £20 I have ever spent I soon bought extra cheapo batts so I could have one charged up all the time I did'ent want to be reaching for the baca again. I have just got a better batt. Itaste vv3 with the iclear 16 clearos & it is great but I must say the cheap set up did its job & now have a box full of stuff lol all the best with it

Hello & welcome CaptainChaos You can't really go wrong with the Evod kit & you can always buy a variable voltage battery at a later date - it will be compatible Where abouts are you? as it would be good if you could get to a vape meet to see/try out what others are using. If there isn't a vape meet near you, there may be a member that is willing to meet up with you

Cheers Ian Those of us who feel we have cracked vaping use a similar excuse of 'spares for spares' to wrack up large collections of vape gear ( spares for spares for spares...) because its now a hobby! You might get 'shineyitus' (forum joke term for collecting vaping tanks and batteries by the dozen!) but only because its still cheaper than smoking and now we have lovely new vape gear for our money on not ashtrays full of burnt hard earned cash..... When a pack of 20 ciggies costs over £7 and so does a basic new tank with built in coils its not hard to collect new stuff, and a weeks spend on ciggies gets you a nice new vaping mod!
