you can make distilled water v easily using a kettle and a 2 pans knock up a frame to hold said pans above the kettle that lets them sit at a slight angle put one pan upside down on the frame and place the other pan right way up on top of the 1st(both bases together) fill top pan with ice, fill kettle and switch it on with the spout under the upside down pan and wait with a cup to see where the water starts dripping from the upturned pan and place it to catch water that was steam hay presto distilled water I can just picture toots dressed up as Bear Grylls complete with Swiss army knife et al

I'm always amazed that in a country where fresh clean drinking water is piped into every house this discussion keeps coming up.
No, mineral water is not better than tap water. It has more minerals, hence the name. But in truth they're trace anyway. Did anyone's coil ever turn white, rather than black? If not, follow my simple instructions:
1) Go to the kitchen 2) Turn on the tap 3) Use the water

Gawwd, my head is spinning now, just logged on and seen all the comments made whilst I've been away, don't know which way to turn. I bought 6 bottles of water from the supermarket yesterday, how about if I boil some of that up????? Or I could see if I could get some distilled water from the pharmacy and then boil that up???? As I've got a whole litre of VG coming I would need to store it (in the freezer I reckon) so I really don't want the water mixed in with it to deteriorate do I, and I'm not going to be able to pour it into my 200ml bottles if it's not diluted down, so I do need to get it diluted. Can you see why my head is spinning now What to do for the best Get a bottle of vodka, drink all but 100mls of it and then, depending on your mood, either add the 100mls to your VG or drink the 100mls ... either way I don't think you will remember what you did with it

What to do for the best Well if it was me, whilst taking everything Frog has said into account . . . you are not producing eliquid on a ' to sell ' basis. I'd boil up some of your bottled water and use that, in the small volume of VG you'll currently be using toots. Then store the rest undiluted in the freezer . . . if you gently warm the bottle, stand it in some warm water, then with a funnel you'll be able to decant it into your freezer bottles. Sorted.

We can't even drink our tap water, it would make us ill. We have to drink bottled water here. I even use bottled water to cook with, never tap water.

Righto, that sounds like a very good way to go - sorted, that is exactly what I am going to do. Thanks Perpetua

Frogster (The Alchemist) is of course right as always. For maximum safety use EP deionised (or distilled). But I've seen a lot of posts by people who say they use tap water and none saying they got ill from it. Obviously in areas where the tap water is bad you'd use bottled. You could boil it, which would kill any bacteria. It might pick up some more while it was cooling but the vaping process would kill it off again I think, along with the bacteria you picked up while washing your atty out. This doesn't seem to me to be like diacetyl or some other potential stealth killer. I'd expect a manufacturer to have a reasonably sterile environment, but I don't make any attempt to replicate that in my kitchen. We live with bacteria all the time and once in a while it makes us ill, but I wouldn't get too worried.

I distil my own water, really eat to do, next time you have the kettle on just hold a glass upside down over the spout an you will see it cloud up with the steam , wait until it steams up untill it forms water droplets then swiftly turn the glass right side up and leave to cool, the water will condense and flow to the bottom of the glass, I normally use a pint glass and this method gets me 2 or 3 mls of distiled water , simples !!

toots, I was wondering about the bottled water but didn't want to poison you If you get a good quality one ( we have just found out that Tesco and asda own make bottled water has come from a normal tap ) , then boil it as well, and give that a go.

Didn't read the whole thread, but the use of distilled or de-ionized water is more to prevent conductivity than purity.
I have vaped 100% tap water to loosen nasal congestion with no issues whatsoever. Everything else is just overkill.

Could somebody please explain to me maybe Frogster (The Alchemist) would know, just cos I'm curious now. Tap water in the uk is drinkable ( I wouldn't touch the stuff that comes out of my taps but regardless ) De-ionised water without getting too scientific, is water that has had minerals , and salts removed . Not fit for human consumption is usually stated. Distilled water has had minerals and salts and bacteria removed. Some states it can be drunk some states not fit for human consumption? Have I got all that correct? What then is bottled still water?
