Desperately seeking loving homes for my cats

We got the move in date to our new home today. It is much sooner than I thought. Friday 4th April.

I have managed to rehome my little dog with my daughter, but, not had any luck with my three lovely cats. My daughter posted an ad on Facebook, but no luck as yet.

I thought I would make a thread on here to see if there was anyone in driving distance who would like to adopt one of them. Obviously, I don't want any money. The only criteria is that they go to a loving, caring home.

One is a smokey grey/ tortoise shell female called Minky. She is the mum of the other two.

Then there is George. A long haired ginger Tom, very funny, chatty young man, who likes his belly rubbed.

Finally, my little Poppet. Black and white female. She was the runt of the litter, but what she lacks in size, she most definitely makes up for with her affectionate nature. One of the most loving cats I have ever known. Just one down side. She likes to display her love and affection for you at 3am sometimes. If you leave the bedroom door open, she will come sit next to your face and tap you on the nose until she wakes you!

I love cats and used to have a ginger tom myself.

I would love a cat again but can't as we go away at the weekends so it wouldn't work for us now.

You know what Blownupdolly - I really can't help (too far away and would be cruel to have cat in a high rise) but all I can do (and will do) is pray....

as you know I have a very sick and elderly rattie right now and the thought of rehoming any of my girls is horrid...

Is there a Cats protection League in your area Blownupdolly ?

Dad has had 2 cats now from CPL. They are really fussy who they rehome them with and offer help and support for ever.

Awwww Dolly.....how I wish I could help all of you, I've already got two wee furballs. Added to that I'm too far away and couldn't afford to have any more. I know how I would feel in your shoes. I sincerely hope that you can find them all loving homes.

Just to add to what Karma has said...Cat Protection League are excellent here too. Might be worth a try if all else fails.

Awww, my cat is called Poppet as well. She was a domestic cat that got thrown out with the wild cats when her owners moved away and I took her in when I saw her on our garden wall. Don't think she was treated very well by previous owners, she was so nervous for several months, but now she is so loving and she sleeps on the bed curled up next to me now. Sometimes we call her Pops for short, but her name really is Poppet.

Yes, I shall phone them tomorrow. I have been holding out trying to see if I can find them a home without having to go through them. I don't want them to have to be kept in cages for any length of time. I love every one of them to bits. They have never toilet end indoors, not one of them has an aggressive bone in its body, although Minky does like to swear if she knows you are putting her outside when it rains!!

Just had another thought....are they outdoor or indoor cats? I was living in council high rise when I got my oldest cat. After asking the building manager about cats (obviously indoor only) he replied "council policy is no dogs or cats. He then said " I don't know if you have cats, as I'm never going to be in your home uninvited.

Would that maybe work even in the short term Dolly?

Quality cat chalets up here!  Honestly. and they have some foster carers that give up a room in their house for the cats!

My Poppet is the one I worry about the most. Because she was the smallest, I gave her a lot of extra attention as a kitten. I would push the others out of the way so she got fed by Minky. I also used to stick her down my bra to keep warm as all the others would squeeze together in a ball and she couldn't get in. It's turned her into a right soppy softie.

Everything crossed Blownupdolly. I've taken on 'pre-owned' cats in the past and, contrary to common opinion, they have become loving (and now much missed) companions. In the right home, they will thrive and enhance the life of their new servant keeper. The only problem with cats is that they don't live forever.
