Similar story from me really. I started smoking when I was eleven 35 years ago, in the end I smoked approximately 20 - 25 analogues a day, but earlier in my twenties probably was smoking up to 40 cigs a day. I have tried every other way to quit, patches, lozenges, throat spray chewing gum, well you get the picture. I didn't give up the cigs straight away when I got my vape gear, but within a month/month and a half, I quit the analogues and haven't had a cig in three months. All this bullsh!t the authorities come out with is nonsense, we know it, and so do they. They ain't getting their tax money from us, so have picked a way to frighten people into thinking that their kids will start smoking. Where are the facts? God it annoys the hell out of me.
Well done to all of you who quit the stinkies with the help of your vape gear. We all have to speak as one voice, and make enough bloody racket to be heard.

I just want to ask the 2nd place people.... (all none of you.... you know who you are... ) Are you craving a benson and hedges? Is the gateway drawing you? Step away from the analogues.... nothing to enjoy there.....

I smoked for over 40 years more or less - stopped a couple of times but didn't last. This is the first time since I was 16 that I feel like a non-smoker. Perhaps we should send this thread to the Welsh Government who appear to be convinced that vaping in public places will 'make' non-smokers into smokers.

I smoked for about 37 yrs, never planned to stop smoking, but was seeing someone who had an allergy to cig smoke, so got myself an ecig from the local shop, wasn't impressed, couldn't wait to light up when I left her company, but then tried eliquid top ups on their filters, had a couple of guys using jacvapour kit so gave them a go, then found this site, read lots of threads, then asked advice.
On the back of that I got myself an mvp2 and since then I smoked 1 cig which made me feel extremely ill, now have 3 x nemesis clones 1 sigelei, a couple of genesis style attys , a spheroid...oh and a fogger although I have never got that running to my liking.
I am so grateful to this forum and from being reluctant to quit I have found it the easiest thing in the world...and evangelise to all other smokers I know, converted about 10 so far, only 1 is doing stinkies and vaping (although he was on about 30 a day, last time I checked he was doing about 4 ....can't see why personally)

Surely the common sense is that if kids are willing to take up vaping they would have taken up smoking....the right choice is obvious!!

Similar to Gully me, started trying smoking in juniors age 11, there was a grocers near our school did a loosey and two matches for 6p. If I could get my hands on that bugger I'd throttle the bar steward but that was 34 years ago in my case and he's probably dead now, I hope it was unpleasant tbh. Tried many times to give up, willpower, patches, gum, tablets, inhalator; I'd generally last 2-3 months then some stress or other would have me buying ten and BAM! Back to smoking again. Been vaping a year next week, reduced my nic 50% in that time too! and I hate the smell of smoke these days let alone the thought of having a fag. I'll end up on no nic sooner or later I'm in no rush because I love a vape and the flavours and it does relax me; but I'm also fit as a fiddle for 45. I can batter the gym, I hill walk and I climb, all things I did before giving up but a shed load better nowadays

As per my signature banner, gave up overnight in September 2012 after smoking approximately 20 rollies a day or a few bowls of pipe tobacco every day for 35 years plus. Wouldn't go back to fags if you paid me huge sums now, feels just so much better. Will get around to zero mic at some stage, but have cut from 18mg to 6-8mg so feel as though I'm on the right road!

Smoked for best part of 30 years, about 30 roll ups and 5 or 6 spiffs a day. Started vaping in May 2013 and haven't touched a cig or a spliff since.

Having been a smoker for 36 years, I loved to smoke and my life revolved around having a cigarette, as sad as that sounds now . . . come the last few years I was putting away 40/50 cigarettes a day and spending in excess of £70 a week on my habit. Tomorrow, it will be 4 years since I last sparked up . . . . 4 Years. Going 4 hours without one used to be an achievement for me . . . . .

I remember not long after starting vaping going without a cig for like four hours and my brain freaking out about it lol. I love it when newbies get that confused look on their faces when they realise vaping actually works

If youngsters do take up e-cigs instead of smoking, then so what it's far better for them. Ps, just converted step daughters boyfriend t'other night hes 19 or so, better they get on e-cigs earlier than later eh? eh?

I think I had my first fag in primary school, along with my first kiss... so I'm talking almost 60 years of smoking. Never tried the NRT products as I knew from talking to others they didn't work, but tried 'cold turkey' several times, which only lasted a couple of weeks each time before becoming very aggressive. Tried an eGo e-cig nearly 2 years ago, and have never even thought about a fag since my first vape... I still can't believe how easy it has been, and has saved me a fortune (sorry, but I'm not into shinyitis!). I'm still in two minds about the banning in public places... I would never dream of vaping in a restaurant, or any other place where I thought it may be misunderstood. That, I've found, is the beauty of vaping... I can go hours without it and still remain calm. As far as encouraging kids, then yes, I think the BigT adverts should be heavily monitored... but out of all the crap they could be tempted into, I'd rather they go with e-cigs, which I don't believe would lead them into analogues, which are going to disappear some time soon.
