Pixie, I don't really bother cleaning my atties. apart from wiping the battery connection end with a tissue & occasionally blowing them out.

I used to have real problems with lifespan of atties. Now, when they start to give crap performance, I blow any excess juice out, rinse for 30 secs with hot water and leave to dry, at least overnight. Then, attach to battery, fire up for 10 secs while blowing into the atty. Do this for 3 or 4 times till I see the glow clearly. Then 4 drops of juice to atty, attach cart and usually they're working much better than previously. Think I've only lost 2 atties the last 8 weeks. Comapre that to losing about 8 atties in the previous 8 weeks, due to being clueless lol.

I am with Chrissie and I don't regularly clean them . I see atomisers as semi disposable and they have a life expectancy of 2-3 weeks. They may still work after that time but the vapour and throat hit they produce, for me anyway, is less than satisfactory. You get a build up of gunk on the coil and water is not going to shift it. I have a feeling anything you do use that will remove the gunk will also damage the wick. See pic in post #5 below of the coil after a few days use.... www.cavecom.com/screwdriver/forum/showthread.php?t=8935I will occasionally soak them in Coke overnight but only if I try a new liquid I don't like. This will get rid of the flavour but it will not make your atomiser live any longer.

I'm currently using 2 510 silver atties from my SD1 package, bought 10 weeks ago. They've been through the cleaning process twice, and still going like the clappers.
The 901's however don't seem to respond to the cleaning.
I just think it costs ya nothing with very little effort to attempt to get them going. If it doesn't work, then I bin them.

Well, for what it's worth, ( being the least knowledgeable on here ) - I hold my atties with tweezers & pour boiling water slowly through them, then rest on kitchen roll paper on top of a radiator overnight - seems to work - Keef's & Foxy's posts, ages ago, got me on this road (I don't do the blowing bit tho' - but then, I haven't got a lot of 'puff' )

The only thing that revives my atties is when I tell everyone they're dead - then at least some of them are reincarnated just to prove me a liar. scylla

A NOT SO GOOD WAY of cleaning your equipment is the way my brother tryed to clean his atty.... he runs a bussiness presure washing the bins to kkep the smelling fresh in this hot weather but I digress ...... he decided in his wisdom to hold the atty in one hand the give it a blast from the pressure washer ..................... granted it did kinda work ... bet he did blast a little hole in his finger lol it is a commercial washed lol high powered ... the atty continued to work for a wee while ...... BUT please DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME. James
