Wiggling the wire depends on the gauge, some don't wiggle so well and you'll ruin a good coil. Best to clip them imo. I've been clipping for a while now with no problems in all circumstances using various gauges.

I don't have much luck with these coils never sure how much to unwind. I can't wiggle either use nail clippers. Mine usually come out lower than they should. I do however have success with these www.fasttech.com/p/1611705 fit them with a needle holding them in place then thread with cotton they come out at 2.0 Omh's every time I think it's because the legs aren't wrapped up so they only need to be pulled straight before fitting.

Sammy thats what you're doing wrong, you need to wiggle not wriggle You won't get them as short with clippers but you can get away with it.

I cut, not wiggle.
Unwrapping wires with no res legs makes almost no difference. The "res" section will be the 1.8ohms.
Look to see where the joins are.
(disclaimer....I haven't seen this exact type for real.....)

Each to their own, the OP tells of issues, wiggling May help Im sure I could snip now without getting a short but for a new coiler wiggling would avoid the shorting pitfall for sure, assuming that's the issue of course.

Typical example I have just flooded 2mm silica, 3-4 wraps of 0.18mm or 4 wraps of 2mm, place coil in head and fix, lay another piece of 2mm silica over the top, fit chimney, trim the wick and you're good to go. I tried this method with the ladies evod after countless efforts with micro and cotton, this one just works permanently, there's not been a single leak, gurgle, dry hit or anything.

enjay I don't make my own coils . I have the pre-made ones from ft, so its a piece of silica with wire wrapped around it already like what has been linked to. I also have a microcoil that I was sent, to shove cotton wool in. Obv with the premade tingies it is easy, can only do a few at a time, but no prob there, but if I just use that it floods just like it has done all over my battery, if I try to put a top wick in I suck my lungs out. so sorry to sound so stupid but ( I am when it comes to coiling , so imagine you are talking to a 3 year old, I won't be offended, university degrees did not teach me this ) with the pre made ones, when I cut the wick to size I have a piece either end to go in the bin. This is I am not sure what mm, ft pre-mades. If you uncurl it you get many bits, by one piece do you mean once uncurled?

sammy13Do you have the ones like me? (plain 1.8ohms... different to toots) Those will flood instantly without extra wick. I tried it yesterday. I admit that cutting off a section of the wick that's left over is then too thick. I've got one going with a FT premade and some very thin wick I had in my box. Anyone know the possibility of a hybrid FT premade with a slim cotton wool flavour wick?

Never have floods with just the tightly coiled premade with no wick I linked to and so easy. They are the same as the micro ones you have sammy just need to thread with cotton wool or cotton thread they come out spot on too been using them about a month now and made about 10. Very cheap too.
