Hubby and I Been vaping now for 4 weeks and all is well. Neither of us have any cravings for the weed. But I have noticed that the last 2 weeks I have gradually been feeling yuk. I wake with a bad headache behind the eyes and a feeling that I have not slept well and a bad ache at the back of my neck. A couple of brufen and the usual long walk with the dog eases things then I am not too bad until late afternoon. Then I start aching all over, get bad chills and general flu symptoms. By 7 I am usually quite hot to the touch (get off me hubby!!!) and I zonk out in front of the telly. Also my tongue is a bit sore and my throat is very dry - I have been drinking tons more. Sometimes depending what it is I am vaping (usually menthol/fruity or coffee) it feels like I am eating a very hot curry, very tingly and a bit sore. I am waiting for a sample of PG only to see if its some sort of reaction to VG, does anyone know if this is possible?
Help :-[

The vaping could certainly cause the sore, dry tongue, Fi, it could be that you're sensitive to the flavourings in the juice, but i'm not sure about the chills, hot to the touch, etc... It sounds more like a virus yo me, with the headaches, chills and feeling washed out, maybe even a mild dose of flu? it could be that you are reacting to the VG and would do better with PG, I don't do well with VG or a strong VG/PG mix, it gives me a tight chest, it also affects Raggy on here as well... hope you feel better asap

I know that some people are allergic to PG, but I haven't heard of anyone being allergic to VG. Still though I imagine it's a possibility.
I would recommend that you see a doctor to find out what is causing it, it may or may not be a reaction to e-cigs.
Edit: I now know of 2 people who have a reaction to VG. lol

Though you could be allergic to either PG or VG, I'm also wondering if it is a virus you are suffering from.

Thanks for the feedback. I am wondering if I have picked up something but it just seemed a bit coincidental with the timing. I based the possible allergy on a posting on here - 'PG - more flavour and throat hit (some are intolerant of it and cause issues) quite drying on the mouth and throat so you'll need to drink more VG - produces more vapour and is a thicker liquid and so can have problems wicking to the atty'

I used to get the headaches and the ache at the back of my neck when I first started vaping, to much nic in my case though, I can still get it now and again as well, the other day I bought a new PV and I vaped to much, I felt quite sick for a bit. I have a few VG only juices that give me a tickle in my throat. Its just a learning thing for me. You could have a virus as others have said with a few vaping symptoms on top of it which are making you feel quite poorly. Hope whatever it is that your better soon, and maybe a chat with the doc could sort it for you xx

A VG heavy mix makes me very phlegmy & congested, so I avoid them now and go for either all PG or PG with just a dash of VG . . . although I can get dry, flaky patches on my face from time to time with this, but it's the lesser of the two inconveniences. Although there are alot of nasty bugs going around at present, with flu like symptoms . . . mine started on Saturday night, it's just easing off now.

Interesting thread. I've been getting migraines since I was 12, but they've been sort of, but not brilliantly, been controlled by preventatives. Recently I've had a migraine every day that no painkiller gets rid of. I've got cold symptoms, keep losing my voice, (to OH's relief) sneezing, blocked nose, cold sores and coughing up phlegm. So I looked up quitting smoking symptoms on the 'net. All these and more can be caused by nicotine withdrawal. I'm no expert on vaping and don't have a clue on comparisons of nicotine equivalency in a cigarette to e cig liquid, or if it affects the body totally differently, but it's a very likely possibility IMHO. I consider myself a non smoker now, so therefore am going through the withdrawal effects. It's bound to affect people in different ways, some lucky people will get away with it, others have to suffer. It's got to pass, we just have to put up with it until it does. Just my opinion though.

From what I've read a sore throat and mouth is quite a common symptom experienced after quitting smoking tobacco, same with cold and flu like symptoms. There's even a term for it - 'Quitters flu' If you do a google search loads of stuff comes up, though most of the info stresses that it's down purely to 'nicotine withdrawal', which isn't really the case (they're mostly 'ciggy quitting' sites in the main though ). If you dig a little deeper you'll find there's a bunch of other chemicals in real tabs which your body will be adjusting to not getting any more. 'Quit Zits' seem to be another unwelcome sided effect for some folk. Some peeps seem to suffer more than others, but for most everything seems to even out within a couple of months of quitting the tabs. Hope that's some help, John

Could well be the answer fim. Another thing I get is hot and cold spells, like flim said, flu like symptoms. This is the fourth day in a row with a bad migraine now. Painkillers are a waste of time so I'm using 4head, it takes the edge off the pain.

Just out of curiosity, I looked up symptoms of allergies of PG as I though maybe maybe they could be a cause of headaches etc. It appears not. The only problem it can cause is skin rashes and itching when used in food additives. Inhaling, the only possible problems are drying of the throat, which we all know anyway and is good as we should all drink loads of water, and the other is it can exacerbate asthma and breathing problems if they already exist, in which case VG is recommended instead.

It's good to see you not flying off the handle like some might, Fi, with nasty symptoms after starting vaping. Instead you've come here and got an idea of how variable we (people) are, no need to panic Still, I do hope your symptoms clear up further so you don't have to go to the doc scylla
