I'm guessing it's Proboards targetting 'appropriate' ads to it's boards. If we were a car forum the ads would be for car manufacturers or accessories. I believe they can be got rid of by paying an extra (large) fee to Proboards

I have no control over which banner ads are displayed - unless I fork out about $180 a month to go ad free.

We have only been getting Proboards In House ads for quite some time, as Proboards support told me that most advertisers didn't want their ads appearing on our forum.

Oh, that is a catch 22. Even I can't afford $180 a month. (I can offer £1.80?)

Is it possible, or even acceptable for us to discuss the brands that are appearing?

I'm sure we could start some desperately uncomplimentary threads that once they appear on google with soon have the likes of Apollo asking AAEC to remove negative comment.

I suspect now that some supposedly "independent" review sites have *sold out* to these brands, they think the forums are going to rush at their products with enthusiasm.
