Whilst I have been away, I have been looking into finding a new hobby to keep me occupied in my new home. I have decided on upcycling wood furniture and other smaller things. I am quite excited as my support worker informed me yesterday that I may be eligible for funding to get me started. Apparently, there's some charity to help disabled people start new hobbies. I came across this stuff on the Pinterest website yesterday. All I can say is STUNNING array of beautiful artwork. It's really given me inspiration. Of course, I shall start off small and simple, but hopefully will move on to greater things. Just a question to throw out to you folks. Can anyone think of anything that could be set up and used to raise bigger items of furniture like chest of draws higher off the ground so I can paint it from my wheelchair? Can't think of anything that would hold the weight and raise it higher and lower. Any ideas?

or maybe you can find somewhere a second hand piano stool - maybe on a car boot sale or cheap from the net - you can adjust the height on them

I very much doubt a piano stool would take the weight of a chest of drawers, plus, how would I get it on there? I am thinking more of something that I can slide some kind of platform underneath and jack up the furniture so I can paint the bottom sections of it. I am unable to bend down to do these things which is why I would need it. I am probably looking for something that doesn't exist!!

I am probably looking for something that doesn't exist!! There will be something out there that fits the bill. A scissor-lift pallet truck springs to mind, but they don't come cheap

Surely they do it here. I will go google it now I know what it's called. ukric the price of your one would probably be acceptable for the funding, but the metal bits coming out on each side would prevent a wider bit of furniture from being loaded. Or maybe you can remove those strips? I just live my friends on here. Doesn't seem to matter what the subject is, there's always someone who will come up with an answer.

The high lift pallet truck can be hired from HHS, you could maybe hire one first to see if it was suitable ?? Just a thought , lol

Tad dah! www.safetyliftingear.com/products/scissor-lift-hydraulic-platform-table-150kg/03321Perfect. You even use a foot pedal to work it which is ideal for me. Just need to get my begging bowl out now! LOL getting very excited! I already have an old chest of drawers in my bedroom earmarked as my first project. Once I get into the swing of it, I have decided to trawl eBay for things to rejuvenate and sell but won't ever spend more than £10 on anything.

The only problem I can see with this one is that when closed it is 210mm (about 8 inches) high which probable means it won't slide under a chest of drawers
