...but I haven't had to buy one for a good five years and haven't a clue about what's out there. What can I get for around the £300 mark? I'm not a massive gamer, but it will need to be able to handle Football Manager for the next three or four years Any ideas folks? Sent from my HTC One_M8 using proboards

I like getting a new PC. You set it up, load up a game or two. Start the game... computer says "does not recognise hardware, settings to LOW" I then go to settings, and set them all to HIGH and game on! (and have my mind blown away....)

BrenD Don't forget to that you will need an O/S with it. I've got a retail copy of Windows 8 ready to rock. If I need to call MS to activate it, I'll do so. Telling them my old motherboard has bitten the dust will do the trick. But I don't think that will be an issue. I haven't a clue what is actually up with my old PC but it isn't working and I won't be getting it repaired as it is getting on a bit. If I wanted to use Windows on two PCs, I'd buy a second copy! Pleased to read that. Turn the old PC, if you wish, into a lean Linux machine - just for kicks. Or fix, break down to component parts and fleabay Or Freecycle Or tip

Or fix, break down to component parts and fleabay Or Freecycle Or tip I expect the case will end up at the tip (it's a pretty fugly Acer one that's of no use to anyone), but I'll be keeping hold of the HDD and will probably be able to find a new home for some of the components. My brother has a few PCs he tinkers with without ever using and will do something with whatever he can salvage. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using proboards

Hi BrenD - Have you seen the Zoostorm range on Amazon? Excellent value, great spec for the price, UK assembled and very good phone support. I bought mine about a year ago and It ticked all the boxes for me. Did I mention how good value it was?

CCl online have a great range of systems, barebones and motherboard bundles. Used them for years and recommended them to many mates. Never had a problem with them. Great prices and service, and no need to buy unneeded windows licenses. Check em out.
