Hi I am about to place an order for some friends/family from myepack and am thinking about treating myself to a mod kit I have 3 mpv's already so was looking at either the vamo kit or the zmax kit any advice on which is better for a starter kit.

Well ive just ordered a Zmax from fasttech as a back up device, when i did some research i got the impression that the vamo was nothing but trouble... so i would say the Zmax..obvioulsy, as ive just ordred it.....lol..... if you have a look on ECF they are very highly thought of on there too...there will be more opinions im sure

+1 for the zmax. As @agenthoover said there seems to be lots of problems reported with the vamo but it could just be a case of people only reporting on the negatives and not the positives. There's also the Innokin Svd which may be worth considering. It'll probably be down to which styles aesthetics they like.

Either or from me elly2 - they're both good devices to use. The Zmax is neater and has that bit more versatility on battery sizes . . . but I still like and enjoy using a Vamo. Here they are side by side with a SID:

elly2 - if you buy the Zmax kit from myepack, you get a 350 & 650 battery and a charger thing too - it's all there. Just be aware that the protank that comes with it isn't great - mine fell apart (but I was using spider Venom in it) I love the Zmax & it's worth it!

I have had 3 Segelei Zmaxs and one s/h Vamo.
2 of the Zmaxs are now kaput and the third is on its was out, but the little Vamo is still chugging away and is my all day, everyday MOD.
On the other hand, if the Zmax was more reliable I would buy some more because the 3 button system on the Vamo keeps changing the settings and that can be annoying, but as a Zmax/Vamo comparison, Vamo wins hands down for reliability.

No offence to anyone, but i really dont get why people would shell out for 3 zmax mods but wont pay that cost for a used Provari or something else in that range,.. ive seen people on various forums buy mods, get faults on it and then buy another...then another,.. i just dont get it... i know things like the Provari are expensive and for most people its a luxury... i myself couldnt afford one so had to buy used... could i afford another...No..but i dont need to as its still running perfectly while most people are now a couple or more mods down the line.

Maybe their other half will string them up by the you-knows for making a large single purchase, I know mine would. Only got one regulated device, just ordered the bits to make a backup.

Perpetua how did you get on with the Sid? I'm thinking of buying one as a backup to my V5. Does the silver one hold its finish better than the black? Anyone else used a SID? Sorry elly2 I don't mean to hijack your thread for what it's worth I bought a Vamo V5 a while back as my first real mod and I love it, no complaints at all except I was stupid and bought a black chrome one that looks terrible now. If you decide to go for Vamo get the stainless steel one.

It's been absolutely fine for me silentscream, no issues of any kind at all with mine . . . the end cap is a bit rough thread wise screwing in, but I just put a smear of Vaseline on from time to time and that smooths that out. djs also has a SID I know. Overall there's been mixed opinions from what I've read - but from me, no complaints.

I was looking at the same choice a month back and picked the vamo v5. The zmax seemed to have more problems, and they were more often fatal.
What fails on the vamo is the connector, which you can fix, and the threads, which you can't, but you can get a replacement cap for the v5. I don't think either will go if you are careful. The connector on my v2 was killed by a spring-loaded vivi nova and the threads when I dropped it once too often. My home vape is a kayfun clone on the v5, and I screw the vamo ring up to meet the kayfun so when I do drop it the 510 threads don't take the strain. I guess that wouldn't work if your clearo or whatever has the air-hole at the bottom rather than at the side.
