New member/Hello/Help needed

That title just about covers everything.

So yeah, g'day vaping experts! I have a story to share with you... last night I decided I'd dive into the world of vaping, so I had a look on Amazon (because I have a gift card to use) and narrowed my selection down to a few devices. Before making my decision I figured I should at least do a modicom of research, so I did a Google search and it brought me almost immediately here. Now I'm sure you're all wonderful people, but I've got to tell you, you've thrown a bit of a spanner in the works guys. From quickly browsing this forum I've gone from "yeah this starter kit is pretty cheap, I'll get this one!" to "ok, maybe I should get the Invaporator 9000, attach it to the Indico Pro Series Plus and then add the Super A.I. moderator model 546839, not forgetting to upgrade the battery to a 2500 ml-6579". Hahaha in other words, it all sounds kind of confusing.

So I was hoping I could throw a couple of models at you and get some opinions on what they'd be like. Basically I've been looking at getting a ego-ce5 style device. I want something that is cylindrical and fairly unobtrusive. My intention is not to give up cigarettes immediately, so I probably won't need like a thousand backup batteries, coils etc to start with. Another option could be one of the EVOD style thingys, which I've noticed have been recommended in quite a few newbie threads I've clicked on here. Are they significantly better than the ego ones? If so, why?

Anyhow, I'll post a few links of the ones I've been looking at, and would greatly appreciate it if you wouldn't mind taking a look and telling me what you think. Please don't spare my feelings - if I've linked to a steaming pile of shite, by all means point and laugh at me and I won't be the least bit offended

Ok, first up is this fairly smart looking kit. It ranks very highly on Amazon based on customer reviews, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything as I'm sure your average user isn't near as knowledgable as most of you lot. 


Liquipal starter kit


That's probably the one I was leaning towards most. But next I came across this, which is much cheaper (albeit with nowhere near as many extras) This one also has an impressive sounding battery, I think. But is it too cheap? Would I be better off spending the extra on the Liquipal?


E-Shisha starter kit


Finally, I saw this EVOD one which is made by Kanger, who I'm assuming are a good name based on customer comments. The only thing putting me off one of these is that it looks pretty chunky, but I could live with that if it's a better option than the ego-ce5 style ones. Oh, also this comes with two 650mAh batteries, whereas the Liquipal one comes with two 1100mAh ones. Hmmm. And one last question... do you think this EVOD would be as good as the EVOD usually linked to on this forum?

I'd suggest you go with the kanger Evod, I haven't looked at you other links but I don't recognise the makes from the description so personally I'd steer clear.

An Evod starter kit is a really good place to start out.
The problem advantage of the evods is that you can by spare heads when the coil burns out and replace them easily. Some and I suspect the liquapal will be require you to replace the whole atty rather than just it's head.

The down side of the Evod kit you've linked on amazon is that the batteries are only 650mah but you can get Evod starter kits with 1100mah batteries so last much longer between charges.

Not sure if amazon do any better capacity evods and realise your looking to use Amazon due to your vouchers. My advice would be to look elsewhere if amazon don't do the larger evods and use your vouchers on something else. If your up for buying from elsewhere we can provide links to trusted vendors

I don't use these sort of devices and haven't for a while, but looking down the list you've provided the Kanger evod is the way to go. The batteries on all of them are very similar, but the clearomiser on the evod kit (the thing that holds and vaporises the juice) is far superior to the other two.

However, have a look at www.MyEpack.co.uk as they have much better pricing than amazon - save your amazon voucher for other stuff! You'll soon make the money back in savings on cigarettes.

Don't forget you need juice as well - there are many good uk-based juice vendors, www.joosejuice.co.uk is often mentioned.

I'm going to let other people advise who have a better idea of the starter kits than me, but well done for thinking about switching. And remember two things:
Don't put yourself under pressure - count the cigarettes you don't have, not the ones you do;
It's only as complicated as you want it to be - many of us treat as a bit of a hobby in here, but we all started with the same intention, to get off the cigarettes. You don't have to own the big shiny stuff to achieve that goal.

Myepack are one of out go-to vendors. They work out slightly dearer than amazon with the postage, but I'm sure we have a discount code. Anyone?

Hi and welcome. Of the three you've linked the EVOD is by far the best choice. CE4/5 clearomisers are really poor. They just dont give the flavour or vapour of a good clearo. If you really want to use your vouchers then go with the EVOD you've linked, but if you're willing to spend a little extra then this would be a good choice. Same kit basically, but the tanks are glass and not plastic. Always better to use glass since some liquids can react with plastic tanks and destroy them.

MyEPack (see link above) are great for hardware. They are as cheap as you'll find, deliver fast and sell good quality products. MR E-Cig sells a lot of bottles of juice for £1.50/10ml which can help you settle on the type of flavours you like.

if you must use Amazon, then the Kanger Evod is the one to get you started. As you will have noticed, if you have had a quick scan through some of the posts on here, there is a multitude of devices available. As and when you decide to take your next step, please feel free to ask advice on here and I'm sure we will be able to guide you to a suitable approved vendor.
In the mean time, give it a go and see how you feel.

Wow, thanks for all the advice and your warm welcomes. I've decided, on your recommendations, to scrap the first two (CE5) starter kits and likely go the EVOD route instead. Also, I'll consider buying from myepack.co.uk since everybody here seems to recommend it and I'm sure I won't have too much difficulty finding something else to spend my Amazon vouchers on

So that being said, I probably should have mentioned that being able to carry the e-cig in my pocket is a must. The EVOD is compact enough to do that, right?

Ok, time for some more opinions... What's this like? Mini Protank 2 Kit Black Is it too small? Although I want something compact, I also want to get a strong vape from it.

If not that, which of these two EVOD kits should I go for?

Is the glass one much better? Finally, if I want to upgrade the battery on these I can do so easily right? Thanks!

The EVODs and mini protank are basically the same size. The mini protank is a few mm longer but nothing noticable. The drawback with the mini protank kit is you only get one battery and clearo, not twolike the evods.

As for the evods, the evod glass is the best choice, followed by the evod 2, with the original evod trailing in behind them.

They also stock the MOW starter kit now.  This kit has a longer lasting battery that you can adjust the voltage on to get more or less vapour and you can adjust the airflow on the clearomiser to get a tighter or airier draw.  Again this kit has one battery and one clearo.

Any of the above are a good starting point.

One last question... do those EVOD kits produce a reasonable amount of smoke (vapour)? Because I want one that does so I can look cool

The evods can produce a good amount of vapour, but you'll probably get a bit more from the MOW kit due to the variable voltage battery. That being said, I believe it's always best to begin with a 2xbattery and clearo kit.

Yes, get the evod kit.

In fact, if it was me, I'd use the Amazon vouchers and get it there and order a variable power battery and a mini Protank from myepack.

Everybody needs a back-up or two, so 3 of each thing (battery and clearomizer) would not be excessive.
