I'm interested to know if anyone else has noticed an improvement in their overall fitness levels since giving up the stinkies? I'm a teacher and fortunate to have a few weeks off (although we are in the midst of setting up our own Charitable Trust as I get made redundant in December, so have had meetings every week and daily phone calls and tings to do). As my regular kayaking buddy has family health problems which are taking up quite a lot of his time, and my daughter is working so many hours to fund driving lessons and a car, I dusted off the MTB from the garage 3 weeks ago, and can now cycle 20 miles (as I have done this morning) and not notice any adverse effects. Bearing in mind that nowhere in Cornwall is flat, I'm pleasantly surprised that I'm able to do this 2 or 3 times a week and apart from a numb bum, I feel fine. Breathlessness is now a thing of the past, and I don't even take a Spinner combo with me for the half-time break 0 just doesn't seem right somehow!
Has anyone else noticed being able to exercise with no adverse side-effects?
My middle aged spread just doesn't seem to want to budge though - I suppose I ought to cut down on the celebratory wine . . .

Yep, leading to our place we've got a bloomin long steep hill (nicknamed heart attack hill by everyone). By the time I used to get to the top of that hill I used to be puffing & panting like a good'n, more often than not stopping at least half way up. Now I can almost run up that hill without getting out of breath, nice feeling it is. Also yesterday I went out with my visiting on holiday friend and we walked for miles & miles, and in the blazing heat & sunshine, which normally would have knackered me before. Other than having to drink god knows how much water, due to the heat, I wasn't phased at all by the long walk. We actually were walking for a solid 6 and a half hours, hows that eh

Wow, yes. Now I'm off the stinkies I can work all day in a workshop with 20 kids at a time and still have the energy to get shouted at once I get home....god bless family life!. Seriously, yes, feeling so much better after getting the stinkies kicked into the past. Breathe better, sleep better, have more energy and generally feel much healthier and fitter than I have in years.

I never noticed myself, but my GP did comment at my last checkup that my resting heartrate is down, and my BP(systolic) too, down from 138 to a solid 120. I still get out of breath when I work hard but I am definitely recovering a lot quicker.
I'm sleeping a lot better now too. 6hrs is enough for me.

Yep! I can now walk as far as the Fridge to get more water, I don't know! I definitely feel fitter but I always walk a lot anyway, the one thing I have noticed is before I started Vaping I used to get a sort of cramp in my Calves, after around two weeks of Vaping I wasn't getting it and havn't had it since, the other thing I like but the wife doesn't is I can now taste my food, and I'm finding that some foods I used to like, I no longer like the taste of, drives the wife up the wall when she cooks and I tell her I don't like it anymore, she always says but you used to like that, I can't work out why she gets so upset when I reply, true but I used to like you as well,,,,

This thread set me thinking about how different I feel. Generally miles better, but it's just struck me how much deeper my breathing is. Never noticed til I thought about it.

Me too, definitely feeling better. What surprised me is that I'm eating less too. I thought it would be the opposite, but where I used to snack rather than go out in the cold for a cig, I can now vape in front of the TV, and no need to snack. Double bubble!!

Bought myself a Carrera Zelos and in March I was 16st 1lb - I go out 5 times a week (weather permitting) at 12 midnight'ish and do 4 miles a day. I'm now 14st 9lb. It also keeps me sane .

I feel loads better after a year off the stinkies. Silly things like if I find something funny I couldn't laugh without ending up coughing, that doesn't happen now, odd that I noticed something like that. The girlfriend also says I'm a lot fitter, she also says thats not necessarily a good thing, don't know what that's supposed to mean.

I noticed within a week of vaping a significant improvement in lung function. Much deeper breaths and a general improvement in well being

Feeling much better than I was when I smoked. Noticed it after 2 months when carrying shopping I jogged up three flights of stairs and wasn't out of breath at the top like I would have been after just walking up. Had a smokers cough that has now gone. My blood pressure has dropped to the point I may ask the doc if I can stop taking the pills and see if its ok without them, as it was only just over the high limit when he put me on them. Heart rate is lower as well. Im hoping I will feeling even better over the next 6 months.

One common thing showing up in this thread that's totally unexpected. Everyone I know who stopped smoking the old skool way put weight on. The opposite seems to be true for vapers (generalization). I have lost 10 lbs in my 4 months.
