Just for fun
.3mm inside with .25mm wrapped. 6 coils at .9ohm . Takes an age to fire up but when its going its not bad. Doesn`t live with the twisted on the erl though . Not sure if thats the atty or clapton coils just arn`t as good as twisted ?

try using .2 or smaller i got some mystery wire from a place i ordered some .5 from thats about .2
its all enjay fault i tell you (rofl)he got me started on the daft coils and im down to 3 types now twisted,clapton and parallel
try a sub home clapton in a dripper they are awesome

Ive got some .15mm and .2mm so I`ll give that a go next Hopefully my cheepo KF`s come soon from Ft then I can set a few tanks up side by side to test . enjay is definitely a bad influence

Maybe a question I should know the answer to but by twisting the wire would I effectively half the resistance, or thereabouts ?

For example if I used a .25 kanthal with 10 wraps giving me 1.8ohms then folded and twisted the same gauge kanthal made another 10 wrap coil would this give me .9ohms or thereabouts ?

Or am I thinking along the dual coil line and have it totally wrong ?

As usual can I have it in idiot terms, just because a chimpanzee will understand it doesn't mean I will.

Not half but definitely lowers the ohms, twisting distorts both pieces so in fact there's more wire than there would be with two simple strands like in a parallel coil. Good coil for flavour though

Been a bit lazy and bought some ready twisted from greyhaze. Cant wait to get one going in my rose.

Ahh thats OK then at least I was thinking along the right lines, possibly. Of course theres alot of small bends in the new twisted coil so 30cm strand folded into half so to speak and twisted would measure less than 15cm.

Yeh, that's another reason I do a loose twist, keep the ohms down a bit

Anyone got so much time on their hands that they tried a Gibson coil, A length of twisted wrapped round another length of twisted then coiled

tried it but i thinks i used to big a wire so it took forever to heat up
