Is vaping now banned in bus shelters in Scotland?

Just wondered cos I just got set upon by an old lady in a bus shelter in Aberdeen for vaping - 'warning' me that the bobbies better not see me vaping there else I'd get a £35 fine. I told her it was an e-cig - she said 'yes my friend got a £35 fine for smoking an e-cig in a bus shelter. Am just warning you' and then proceeded to lecture me and the smoker (outside the shelter) about some pill her friend had gotten from the docs that caused her to quit. My battery was dying and so I made a hasty exit....

Eejit springs to mind! But anyone else have any info?

If theres no sign in or around the bus stop or any other place for that matter. Stating no vaping etc then no rules have been broken

Some people, it seems, read 'public places' as meaning anywhere outside in the open air? Cranks!!

Anyone noticed the 'no vaping' signs appearing at train stations, right next to the 'no smoking' ones.

There is no law ..like smoking by the government banning vapping...so how can the rossers fine you...personally i would have told em to get a life and P... Off..no law was broken.

An old lady in a bus shelter in Aberdeen.........or even old ladies in bus shelters anywhere! Sums it up nicely really. Don't think you have anything to worry about @johanino, as prr says, madder than a box of frogs!
Down here you can get fined if you drop a cig end on the floor, if anyone sees you, if they catch you......classed as littering maybe she thought you were going to drop your mod on the floor when you'd finished?

Another side effect....
I was driving along a couple of weeks ago, I had a motorbike following me, I opened the window for a vape and the bike dropped right back, I presume he thought I was smoking and would flick my ash out the window, so I vaped for an estimated cigarette time and watched my mirror, you could almost see the puzzlement in his face that there had been no ash, nor a dogend flicked out into his path

Well,because I am an older lady,I would not vape in any public place because a lot of people are not in tune with the rest of society and have never seen anyone vape,,plus I respect people's right to object to having clouds of vapour in their face.
I never did when I smoked ciggies and I don't vape outside ,I never seem to have the urge and don't miss it either until I get home then it is the first thing I do.
Funny ain't it how things change,I always to take my ciggies out with me and have a sneaky puff away from the crowds.

Think the lady may have been confused. There are no laws on vaping in public spaces in Scotland (yet). While the law on smoking in public spaces does apply to bus shelters, until such a law referring specifically to vaping comes into force (if it ever does), I wouldn't worry about a fine. Private companies can set their own policy on vaping, but this isn't legally binding and you certainly couldn't be fined for breaking their rules.
