Hello to everyone here on this lovely, helpful and welcoming place!. Well basically, I'm on the verge of buying my first ever e-cig and have decided on the Riva because of the longer battery life. It is a major purchase for me as I smoke roll-ups at about three quid a packet and get through about four a week...STILL enough to want to free myself. It seems like there is a lot of faffing about with e-cigs, although by being used to rolling I think that it would be good for me personally!? I would dearly like to read about the experiences from other ex roll-up smokers in particular and how they have got on with the Riva- also what flavour e-liquid should I be looking at and what strength? I am a bit overwhelmed by so many choices available! Sorry in advance, it's all so new ??? XXXX

Hello and welcome.
I am new to this lark too, and went for the Riva because of the battery after reading the review on here.
It's good, but I have nothing to compare it with having no others. It does me. I used to smoke 40-50 ready mades a day.
It's not too much faffing all told. When it comes, charge the battery for a while. Take out the filling in the cart, drip about 6 drops in, put the filling back in, drip two more drops in, push into the attie and take a drag! I use e-juice from Paradise Vape. 36ml strength.
Read some of the other newbie threads, where you can learn more and read up on all our experiences.

Alreet beeper, The Riva cuts down on a lot of faffing about, no need to worry about re-charging it every coupla hours, so you made a good choice there. Of the friends I've introduced the Riva to, one is me mates Mam, she's 73, and another friend was a rolly smoker. If they can manage, anyone can The E-liquid strengths they went for were both 18mg, and so far it's been enough. They're both on Enjuice silver supreme, which is a nice smooth tobacco flavour. I've also heard nothing but good things of the tobacco Chrissie mentioned, though I've not tried it yet, though I do intend to as soon as my E-liquid stash diminishes. good luck, hope you enjoy it.

Hi Beeper, I'm a newbie here both to the forum and vaping. I used to smoke 20+ rollies a day and I used gold leaf tobacco. I am on day 11 of no smoking, happily using the Riva 510 and feeling really good about it. The first couple of days were a bit of a struggle as I was using a high strength e-juice (30+mg) and I think it was bit harsh for me. I'm now using 24mg nicotine e-juice (LnB is my favourite tobacco flavour from Paradise Vape) and its working well. Check the tips on the forum for instructions on the Riva 510 as the ones that come with the kit are a bit vague. Vaping is much less hassle than rolling cigs, just keep the spare battery charged. I'm feeling good, I have been smoking for over 30 years and I never thought I would be able to kick the habit. Already I've noticed that my circulation has improved, I don't have the chesty cough, my skin is improving and I just feel better Good luck!

Hi Beeper, I smoked roll-ups for 26 years and I got through approx. 120 - 150 grams of Golden Virginia every week. I bought the dse 901 starter kit and haven't had to or wanted to try any other type.
I only tried two flavours of juice, and my favourite was Drum from OKSmokey.
I have to add that I hardly ever use my ecig now, though. I used it as an aid to quitting smoking, and, so far, it seems to have done the job. (Fingers crossed).

Beeper - II (Chrissie, there's my double I for ya)... start again: I smoked for 50 years and at the time I started on e-cigs (with DSE901 starter kits with pre-filled "tobacco" cartridges) I was CHAIN-smoking unfiltered Golden Virginia and deeply felt that there was no escape. In the first 6 days I smoked a total of 22 rollies instead of about 250 and since then no baccy whatsoever Back in those days we didn't have the choice there is today, so listen to what other newbies are telling you - the Riva seems to be very effective indeed! Get a couple or more small bottles of juice strengths and flavours - it'll be interesting even if you're not mad about them scylla

Hi Beeper. I'm a ex rollie smoker too. I have been smoking Drum, then Golden virgina for the past 5 years, previous to that I was smoking around 30 normal cigs a day.
I found swopping to the ecigs really easy. My first one was a cheap electronic cig that was quite weak and needed to be charged every couple of hours, I purchased it from the car boot. I smoked that for the first day even trying a roll up to see if there was much difference. After finding there wasn't I ordered the Riva 510 and have been on that ever since.
I've found it really easy and have now got rid of all my baccy and rolling bits.
I've been 2 weeks and 3 days now without wanting, needing or even liking the smell of the real cigs.
Good luck x

Hi and welcome Beeper
I never smoked rollies, only tailor mades, but I am a member of the Riva fan club!
If you do decide to buy one, don't forget the 15% discount with the code ECR69.
With regard to different flavours, that is really down to personal taste. From what I have read, everyone new to e-cigs wants a tobacco flavour (as I did when I started), so that would be a good place to start, but once you are used to it, you'll find that trying new and different flavours is just one of the brilliant things about vaping. If you smoke with menthol filters, or enjoy menthol ciggies, then menthol is definitely the way to go.
With regard to strength, I personally prefer the stronger liquids - over 24mg at least, but I generally tend to go with the 32 or 36mg. This should give you the nicotine hit you need and make the transition from smoking to vaping a lot easier.
To be honest, when you start it is all a bit of trial and error, although getting yourself a good e-cig (which the Riva is) will make life a lot easier, then it is just experimenting with flavours and strengths
Good luck

Hallo and welcome. I smoked roll ups for three years before taking up e cigs. I did smoke ordinary cigs before then. I smoked about 11 a day, during a working week and about 20 weekends. I cut down by about two thirds during the first week, then totally gave up just using the e cigs. That's been over 6 months ago now. I use the tornado which I love but did try several e cigs until I found the one I liked. I vape mainly 4/5 mg juice having gradually cut down from 18mg. I do keep some 11 mg forwhen I want a bit more oomph. Keep with it, you have to be focused and accept that there may be problems along the way. The help and support of people on this board has been invaluable.

Hello lovely peeps and many thanks for all your replies Whilst still feeling overwhelmed with all the different e-cigs and all the spare bits and all the flavours and types and all the strengths I will def keep your advice in mind for the future. I could have just jumped right in bought the Riva as intended,(the goldy one is out of stock now ) but I have never experienced vaping so felt quite apprehensive. BUT... today....I have taken my very first ever ever step, and ordered a disposable electronic cig. It's a start! I hope it works out and can't wait to try it! I sincerely hope it will work for me and prompt me to buy the Riva. From reading on this board I understand that the disposable is not very strong in nicotine so I shall bear this in mind. Many thanks to you all for your help XXX
