I meant to mention this a couple of weeks ago,but I forgot. Have you seen the selling of ecigs in those little magazines that come with the weekend paper`s. Its called "genius e-cigarette" .The information is about no tar,no carcinogens,no smell, etc. Not a lot on the actual device itself. It also states no nicotine. You get.1 e-cig,1usb charger and 5 tobacco carts, enough for 1000 drags £19.99. 10 extra carts are £9.99. It says nothing about the atties, you only get one batt. I do think a lot of people desparate to give up smoking, might think of buying this. How successful they will be in achieving that is a different story. I think betta-ware mag,is selling one as well. What a shame people who buy it can`t come here first for help and advice. Still I suppose its spreading the word on ecigs. Rather a long thread for me. Sue

Agree Sue although I've not seen any of those magazine adverts yet, I've found this board, all helpful advice, suppliers and indeed my first ecig via anything that has been posted on Ebay, Chris and her mods deserve a medal I reckon. Absolute Stars.

I've been seeing these for a while now and I think it's a shame they are selling these poor imitations. If people buy these, they will be sorely disappointed and it will only be the minority that will will look further into the concept of vaping and may stumble across this board or others similar.
The problem is, vaping is relatively unknown. It's down to us vapers to put the principle into the wider community. I try discussing it on various other forums I belong to, as well as replying to the NHS Smokefree discussions on Facebook, in the hope that more smokers will find out about it.

Hopefully, nobody in their right mind would bother ordering anything from one of those magazine inserts. It's all carp, for a lot of money. Long handled toe-nail clippers, two feet in one foot muff (so you have to hop!?) Nose hair cutters. CD Flipper gadget. And so on....
I, too, am doing all I can to promote it. I've sent my two smoking sisters lots of info from this board, copied and pasted, together with pics of the Riva etc.. One is going to persue it further when I visit in September when her daughter (my niece) gets married as she wants to see it in action first and have a suck!! The other one should have received her bumpf today.
I did mention it on the eBay techie board the other day.
Sort of on the same subject - has anybody ever met anybody else who vapes? Anywhere? While out an about? I haven't. Just saying, because I don't think too many folks know about it still.

As I've said from the start, an e-cig "starter kit" that comes with only one battery is as useful as a chocolate teapot. What they heck do you do while the battery is being recharged?
No Kath, I've never come across anyone else who vapes when I've been out & about. Though in my case that's not totally surprising as I don't go out & about much these days, apart from shopping or the vets for instance.

Knawes, you mean you don`t think a foot muff is something you can`t do without. Did anyone ever see Billy Connoly [Think Ive spelt that wrong ] imitating someone in a foot muff. It was hilarious. But going back to the ecig. I have never seen anyone else with one either. I did get a friend of mine to try one. Instead of asking my advice on which model to buy, she let her husband [bit of a know it all] pick one. His logic being because she only smoked a small cigarette, the 084 [is that right? ] would be ideal for her. Never mind the fact she smoked 25 a day. She used it for a week on and off. Its been in the box ever since. I might not know a lot but I certainly know more than he does on this subject. [sorry ,he is a very good friend actually just winds me up sometimes]

These joke products do the E-cig industry more harm than good.
I know quite a few smokers who've tried E-cigs, when i ask where they got them from and what type, it was either a gamucci bought from 'I want one of those' (IWOOT), from the bettabuy catalogue, or from a stall in the local shopping centre - they call themselves 'Magic cigarettes' - guess what, they're not magic hehe.
Not one of them had a good word to say about E-cigarettes.
Try telling them they've been duped and there are good ones out there, but they don't want to know. Too late. They've already tried them. All e-cigarettes are sh*t lol. Can't blame em a suppose, forking out £50+ for something that does'nt even come close to working.

Personally I have never met anyone who vaped. I think I must have lived a fairly sheltered life because I had never heard about e cigs.
The first it came to my attention was on another forum related to Living in Greece there was a chap who wanted to know if he could carry his ecig stuff in his hand luggage.
So I thought, this is new, put ecigs into google and up came this forum.
I thought great, the gods are with me sort of thing, read the forum threads, placed an order which I am patiently waiting on and that was that.
Why is there not more advertising about ecigs?

Ken, the e-cig mods I use the most (GG Grant & GGTS) are made in Athens by a very clever man - user id imeothanasis As sold by Cloud 9 Vaping. As for the advertising, I guess it's due to most of the good online vendors being either small companies or individuals & therefore unable to bear the cost of mass advertising. Added to that, some newspapers/magazines & most likely TV stations might not accept any adverts for anything they themselves don't know enough about?

"I thought great, the gods are with me" sort of thing That's just what I thought when I saw the thread on eBay's Q&A board in Oct 08, and I had never had that feeling before Nice to know that Google sent you here, I won't hear another word against them Everything should fall into place when you get vaping, Ken, no matter which e-cig you choose. Worst case scenario is that you'll be able to say what improvements you want and take it from there. scylla

Yes Chrissie, I have been reading up on the GG Grant. It looks quite impressive. I will start off small though and maybe get a GG when I become a professional vaper. Yes Scylla, I have a good feeling about this and firmly believe that nothing happens by accident. Sometimes we wake up and smell the coffee or in my case the vapour.

Good luck Ken, this board is SO help helpful and friendly if you have any questions and queries about ecigs.
After 4 months now of being a smoke free zone I even gave my 2 'emergency' unopened packs of fags to a yet to be converted smoking friend yesterday.
They had a go with my Riva though and couldn't believe how good it was so there's hope!
