Don't be confuddled, you don't need to understand the details, for choosing a battery the most important thing is a trusted vendor & manufacture and a "maximum continuous discharge" rating that is higher than you will ever use (this is the highest current or amps that your device will run at). IMR or safer chemistry batteries are the best option for mechs and higher powered regulated devices, ICRs are OK for lower powered regulated devices.
