Raffles after what has been going on here lately please continue to be contentious if you will to hopefully give us the opportunity to have a bloody good discussion in what is hopefully a light hearted manner without it getting personal

It's only Hamilton and Alonso that command that sort of money, quit a few drivers have to pay millions to get a drive and it cost millions just to get to the levels below F1. When a top teams spend $300M+ a year they don't want to skimp on the driver, plus Hamilton in particular is a huge draw for sponsors.

I've no problem with sports 'stars' being paid millions, just wish they would answer my begging letters.

Hmm I've read every post in this thread, and have thought long and hard about my thoughts on sports and salary.

Here goes

F1 first race 1950 - 64 years ago

Football first match approx 1850 - 164 years ago

First scaffolding archeologists say approx 17000 years ago

Assume a pint of beer costs £4 and a packet of cheese and onion crisps £0.40.

Then using a complex equation , factor in inflation , cost of living and the price of HD tv's.

I have calculated that The barman should earn £3.56m a year.

So yes barmen and women deserve what they earn.

Respect I've heard it takes 4 years to mature a bottle of that stuff infact I read on the worldlied web that it's won many awards .
