OK this is probably going to upset a few... BUT £100m for 5 years just because he can drive a car quickly. Putting him in the drawer with the soccer prima donnas that just suck the life out of what should be 'family' sport, for the fun of it only. Yes, get a decent wage, but PLEASE. makes me... Just thought I'd try and get the forum back to normal, and we can argue about something less serious.

I don't have axe to grind with the money they earn after all who wouldn't like a piece of that pie but to get a British empire medal is a joke.
Rightly or Wrongly this is my opinion.

I've had at least 5 speeding tickets in my time and no-one paid me Thanks... that's just reminded me of a speeding ticket I got many years ago on the M5 (98mph), and was bought to book and given a right lecture by a female officer, who'd tracked me, at Strensham Services. Sorry to be sexist, but I would have preferred it from a male officer... but she did get her point across, so good for her. I think it just embarrassed me more.

Today it's not just sport its big business. I can't see any argument why the stars of the show shouldn't take a big old bite of the pie. After all there'll be many of the suits pocketing even more.

To be fair, F1, and all motorsport drivers, risk a lot more in a race than a footballer does in a match. Thankfully fatal accidents are not as likely these days, but poor Jules Bianchi has spent weeks in an artificial coma this season.

More fool us for paying the prices. I'd rather watch the grandkids playing than any Premier League match.

I'm happier for it to be in his pocket than ecclestones, who would only consider It loose change to tip bankers/judges with.

I agree lairey and I pray he will be OK... but they do it because they love it, and fair enough, but why are they paid a king's ransom, when scaffolders as an example, risk their lives on a daily basis, for the benefit of us all. I'm sure they get way above average money, but they do it for us, not their own pleasure.

Scaffolders wear safety lines these days. a scaffolding firm may get paid 10k for a mahoosive job, they can't then pay the scaffolders a million each generally scaffolders do do it to make a wage rather than doing it for us.

I agree, and that was what I was trying to get across... we all benefit from their work. The next argument will be that F1 benefits us all in car design... but it doesn't sit well with me that some **** earns mega bucks for doing his job.

I used to love sport, all of it.
These days, it depresses me how mad everything has become. Big sport has sold out to big money (including sky) and I'm not sure much is given back to anybody or anything.
The 'stars' get their pay, some of them dodge their tax and many of them don't give diddly squat to anything.
What are famous people going to do with their tens of £millions? They can't take it with them. ???
