At 4.3 volts with your coils you're just over 10 watts with your spinner so it's unlikely you'd be happy at 5 watts, I just used 5 watts to explain the maths and also some limitations of the istick if you fit the wrong coil but 1.8 coils you have are good for most devices. Try just lowering it a little rom 4.3 to say 4 volts or just under 9 watts and see how that is

It's really not difficult, it's called ohms law and derivatives of. I have the advantage of training as an electrician many years ago. V=I*R W=V*I W= V 2/R so the last one is most useful, if you wanted to vape at 5 watts and your atty is 1.8 ohms then the voltage required to achieve 5 watts would be 3 volts. 5w=3v 2/1.8
Yep. Not difficult at all. I just use a calculator.

I usually have it at 4.3. but it still spits and sparks at that setting. If I set it lower, I don't get a good puff.
I must say, I would only go up to 4.3v on the iStick with the big brother BVC coil. With the smaller one (1.8, like you have) that would be quite fierce.

4.32/2.1=8.8Watts with a 2.1ohm coil. 8.8x1.8=15.84. Root of 15.84=3.98Volts.
As has already been suggested, 4Volts should give you the same vape experience with these 1.8ohm coils.

Really tis not a prob crazyquilter we'll get you there. I generally have a 2ohm coil (make myself) at about 6.5-8.5 watts. (don't know what that is either but it tastes nice!). Do you get your e-cig stuff from a shop or online? If you get it from a shop and it's not too far away maybe pop in and ask the guy there to explain it? If not there's us and GregI think when I vaped at volts (a looooong time ago) I would only use 4.3 when I needed my 'hit o' the morning' And sorry to say I'm a sassenach. Speak like I come from Hampshire. Immigrant you might call me LOL

I am ploughing my way through these suggestions. I have come up with set the spinner at 4 if that's the volts is that right?
Struth if I can't figure out the spinner there's not a lot of hope for the eleaf then is there? I mean me understanding the maths.
I was looking on ebay for an eleaf and most seem to be around the £30 mark which is what I was quoted by a vendor, oh no, it wasn't the vendor said £35, but now I see them as low as £20. I am wondering if these are fakes, you wouldn't really know would you?
I love you all by the way, you are a smashing bunch.

OMG watts as well! Ohms, volts and watts. It's nearly but not quite enough to send me to a shop for a roly kit again! No, only kidding, It's a year and l week since I last had a cigarette and there's no way I am going backwards now. I have a nice clean car, yeah!!! no ashtrays in the house and I can walk uphill much easier. Yes, easier not easy!!! What do you mean by saying its a long time since you used volts, are you using gas now???? I think it is getting way too complicated for me, I'll just have to play it by ear. I have progressed only a little bit from the ego's and I am happy with the spinner, (I like the rainbow colour) and the coils are fine, it's just the spitting and hissing I could do without. In saying that, I like the look o the e leaf and because it needs less charging it seems attractive. I get my stuff from a laddie on this forum who is very kind to me, and is willing to answer me what I ask and more. I do have to travel a 60 mile round trip to go his shop, it's just the hissing and spitting is worse and I won't see him again for a week or two. Thought you clever lot would know the answer. Now I have met myself coming back........ As for being a sassenach, well, it could be worse, you might have to be answering questions from a numptie Scot living in England!

A happy coil will hiss and pop. Spitting is a sign of just too many volts (for pre-made coils/heads)(especially the BVCs). How does your juice taste otherwise? The unfortunate thing with the BVC design is any spitting will be directly into the airflow. Next time you order make sure you get the 2.1ohm coils then everything will be back to normal (I know. Obvious, but it'll show on google )

crazyquilter when people say they don't use volts they actually still do of course but refer to a device that has the capability to be set up in voltage mode or wattage mode. The egos and spinner you have only have a voltage option The iStick we speak of is a type of device that can be set to control either the voltage or the wattage. If you set it in voltage mode then the wattage you will deliver to the coil is dependant on the resistance of the coil in the atty. However in wattage mode if you set it to say 9 watts then it doesn't matter what coil you install ( within reason) as the device will automatically adjust its voltage output to achieve your set wattage. You could think of voltage setting as manual and wattage setting as automatic

Start low and work up if you're not of a mathematical persuasion like me crazyquilter . . . once anything starts spitting or burning then you know that the setting is too high for your coils/juice to cope with and need to back it off. Especially if you're changing coils so regularly, it does take a little time/ a tank full to ' run in '.

just like what perpetua as said, why not just start low and work your way up untill it suits you, a lot of the time i dont bother about the maths side of vap'ing i just turn it right down and work my way up till i get a nice vape.
