Crikey. My vaporshark is in bits, just after new year it ded, first the OLED was displaying wiggly lines and then the mod stopped working completely. On being dismantled it didn't have any loose wires or signs of burning, but what it did show is that there are two boards piggy backed on a very flimsy connection. It's not an evolv dna40, but one of their own design. Glad I have my homebuilt evolv dna40 box (which was a project and intended for backup), it's been performing like a champ

on safer vapers facebook page there was pics of some blokes Rnda40 that went boom and that was cause he put the battery in the wrong way round (batt was vtc4 and stated worked great in devices before it was installed in the rdna40) i say boom as it didnt just fry the board but vented the battety and burned his finger thought dna40s had revers battery protection?

Nothing mentioned in the specs for the DNA40 about reverse battery protection

I am glad SOME Vendors/Suppliers are addressing potential problems quickly. I do not own this particular device, but I'm not sure I would be happy Charging ANY Battery through a Pass Through that wasn't a decent Li-Po, and Certainly wouldn't want to charge a 20A or 30A 186** series via a USB port!

It's not an evolv dna40, but one of their own design. Hence no reverse bnattery protection, and possibly the cause of the overheating. I repeat - it isn't an evolv DNA40, it's a clone. Thanks for the info davetherayon ETA: cancelled my order, rather have genuine.

so vapourshark are claming they use the dna40 chip, but they arnt? If they contain 2 piggy-backed boards as stated then definitely not true DNA40. A sad thing to witness tbh. ETA: Have we stumbled upon something here? Something everyone else is blissfully unaware of?

So, are VS cloning the DNA40, or is someone cloning the VS rDNA40? Now even I'm inquisitive.

Something like this could kill the market for VS, so I'm not going to express any further opinion. But this does need clarification. Anyone else got one they're willing to open up?

Probably the charger board that did not have rbp, the DNA40 has which is why it still worked because the isolation. The charging board and the DNA are separate, both connected to the battery if the charging board or wiring (IIRC the have a couple of daughter boards in the rDNA40) fried causing a short (strange if it did) that would cause the battery to vent, I have fried 2 or 3 charger boards (not Evolv ones) putting the battery in backward, never fried a DNA. Seems a total VS problem if they had put a PTC fuse on the charging board for the max charge current it would probably be OK.
