The DNA40 has reverse polarity protection according to Evolve's specification. It does, but the other board may or may not and it could have been that or the charging circuit that fried. Also the DNA40 outputs an inverted voltage so they have to invert the switch LED and maybe they missed something with the change from the DNA 30. The 40 has a negitive voltage at the 510, common with buck-boost circuits.

What generation shark do I have? Lost count now as they can't get anything right from the start, how many chances do they need. It's got Celsius, no larger screen and zip charging.
What the hell is zip charging vaporshark? Nothing instruction wise with regards to it but it will take 1.6amp if offered and don't want to know 500mah. The DNA40 board spec is 500mah but im still awaiting a reply from evolv.......
My shark is working fine but considering my first two were faulty I don't think this company will be getting any more of my money.
Also reading this thread there might be more to just wire and the 510 connection to the inconsistencies between my flask and shark, same atty reads .22 on one and .18 on other, all at room temp. My cheap fastech ohm reader is more accurate.

I stand corrected, it's an evolv board inside the VS. Piggybacked on another one. Thanks for the clarification VapingBad.

I think it may be best to post pics davetherayon, you know how peeps can either latch onto info like carp on a bait, or be doubting Thomas. I don't need photo's to know that what davetherayon has said is absolute rubbish. The same member posted a thread "What to do with a DNA40 board" which I think says it all. Actually that was @letsavit.

Just read that thread linked.
"It's the 2nd batch production, with the ZIP high speed charging system and all quality issues resolved. Vaporshark went out of their way to test each individual product - hence the delay"
Followed by post starting with;
"ATTENTION"
the irony
So I do have that batch and I have just got to watch it all the time to make sure it don't blow up....!
am I good to go if I don't insert the battery wrong way round or should I replace battery? Or shall I just throw the third vaporshit in the bin? Watching something because it's potentially dangerous just don't cut for me I'm afraid.

I'm not up on that issue @letsavit but, the best thing to do if unsure would be to charge the battery via a standard charger and not use the USB. Definitely a better idea than binning it anyway

I'm wondering whether or not the problems were caused by using too powerful a charger ??? I would've though that it would just fry the charging circuitry and not the battery but even so These do need to be charged with a 500ma charger unless you're using a wireless charger. I can't say that any of mine have given the slightest hint of an issue with charging and none of the people I know have had any problems with theirs. I can't seem to find any confirmation anywhere as to the cause of the units that malfunctioned.

I can't say that any of mine have given the slightest hint of an issue with charging and none of the people I know have had any problems with theirs. I can't seem to find any confirmation anywhere as to the cause of the units that malfunctioned. Could be but on a £150 device there should be a circuit to protect it. Have you got "zip charging" on yours, mine has, the led on the fire button ficklers and you can hear clicking (pulsing?) at 500mah my charge doctor also goes blank or flickers. White one, think VapingBad has the same one he might be able to tell what that means, 1amps fine, which is the output from wireless charging so I use that also for the USB. Tested it up 2amps just now and it took 1.8amps not the full 2 so something's regulating it. No guidelines from vaporshark except it charges "faster" . Faster, have they actually invented a way or charging a battery faster with 500mah, my limited knowledge of electrics say no. I'm not overly concerned but for others I am. One of my faulty VS DNA40,s self fired for as long as it wanted, I emailed VS and asked what they was going to do about it, I got I cut and paste reply. I'm no VS hater and know they have a loyal following and loads out there are fine, mines working fine and I like the device but I don't get personal over a box and battery, they mean nothing to me. When I see a thread regarding a faulty board if I can't add nothing I feel will help I say nothing, when I see vapour shark and safety in the same sentence my ears prick up and I will add my personal experiences which although short has shown to me there OC is terrible. If it was a £20 clone from china then that's the chance we take, but it's £150. That's the word "confirmation" I wouldn't mind confirmation on how to charge this device and lets see if we get confirmation of what was wrong with these devices so we can check, change battery etc to prevent or you reckon VS will do a recall.............. good for the UK vender (think it was UK?) for warning and with no information quickly but a safety warning with no more information is useless, that's like Honda saying some of our cars have dodgy brakes, don't drive too fast, VS now need to follow up on this. In my industry the companies that have made mistakes and gone all out to correct them have been tested and get the contracts, the ones that have never made mistakes are untested and typically liars. Edit; sorry Blakey, not a personal rant at you, I went to reply then went on one.....!

My VaporShark rDNA40 that I bought off the classies is due to arrive today. I'm really confused as to what you are all talking about on this thread. Is this mod now not safe? Or what should I be doing to keep it safe?

Or what should I be doing to keep it safe? Two customers of the vendor where I purchased our Vapour Sharks had a serious heating issue when charging through the mini port on their devices. ( updated version) A further update for all, Evapo emailed me again this morning to say no other customers than these two original reports have occurred , personally I will continue charging on my Nitecore D4 cheers

@letsavit with the flickering 500 mA is that on the wireless or USB? Might makes sense on the wireless if the sender is connecting, deciding there is not enough current, disconnecting and repeating the process. I have not seen the white USB meter flicker, but I have seen the blue one do it and it could just be the way devices draw current. BTW a review of the metre. Using 2 A would be fine (maybe a bit hot with the cover on) with VTCs & 25Rs as their Fast Charge rating is 4 A, but would be too much for many batteries. But they must have a custom charging board in they to handle that which points to any charging problems being in VS parts and not the DNA. iLardyboy I wouldn't worry too much as this has only been reported to affect 2 units and I assume that the warranty has plenty of time left on it.

I bought it of the classies, it's not a month old yet. How does VaporShark's warranty work, do I need a receipt or anything else?
