There is someone on ECF has the new version and claims that it works in normal TC mode, but isn`t sure about the cotton burn test, he hasn`t done it yet, but is going to do it

Yep looks like round two, about time Smok gave up with this mod and sell it for what it is, a good value VW. They really are doing themselves no favours trying to bulls*it customers.

For the money I hope they prove us wrong.....

Well mine has shipped from Evkoo, so I will see in a few weeks what it can and can't do. At the very least it will be a good value 80w mod. But I do think SMOK would have done better just saying it was a 80w mod and forgotten about the temp control side of things.

Afterr throwing all my toys out of the pram (basket) lol I have relented and ordered another from myepack who have the latest "version". It`s a great value "normal" mod should get it tomorrow or the day after, be interesting to see what 0006 and the changed hardware will do

Not convinced at all It will be very interesting to see what happens on the scope when the "temp control/protection" supposedly kicks in. I think if he had carried on drying that wick it would have started to burn. I hope I am proved wrong when I get it tomorrow or the day after.


I really cant imagine exactly what it is supposed to be detecting if it isn`t temperature, or I should say I cant imagine HOW it is DETECTING the so called plateau on Kanthal.

Interesting review. I was watching the screen on the M80 and it looked like it cut out, so not sure he could carry on with the wet burn. No doubt nickel coils will register the changes in resistance better, but if it works on kanthal that seems to be a bonus to me. It will be interesting to see your oscilloscope readings for both nickel and kanthal to see if you get the same graph as the one in the review.

The resistance of kanthal hardly changes at all with heat, hence my scepticism. I hope the mod isn`t just timing out .

If it was timing out it has a short time limit. He was pressing for about 5 seconds, and most mods seem to time out at about 10 seconds.

Hope they didn't move the 5 second ramp up to the other end. But the way they have been developing this thing anything is possible.
