Further on the guy on ECF testing the mod. From what he is saying, it is no better than the first one. Smok are really taking the pish. Why dont they get a panel of vapers to test this out before they let it loose on their customers. If Smok get away with doing this, they will all be at it, really cynical behaviour from Smok. Could be the thin end of the wedge from China.

Listen guys, not to put too fine a point on it, it DOES NOT WORK lol. It`s fine on normal mode which was all I was expecting, but it is NO BETTER than the 0005 and 0004 firmware. It still burns cotton when the wick dries. WTF are Smok playing at, to sell kit in this way is an absolute disgrace. Thery talk about using a different method, that`s fine, but not if

The difficulty with scope pics is that the mod is PWM (another negative), so the voltage will always look the same in value. The duty on/off cycle is not going to make a lot of sense to most people understandably.

That temp sensing feature for kanthal in the video on the last page may stop you atty catching fire in your pocket, but time-out did that already so pretty pointless IMO. Temp limiting on the Evolv's limits the max avg temp of the coil primarily for safety (not creating unintended chem reactions), but some of us find a whole new aspect to flavours. That kanthal temp feature is nothing like this, it's like the diff between a dead-mans-switch and anti-locking breaks. This whole area is getting even more confusing with systems like this and YiHi's use of Joules, it's a shame I feel it's great tech when done right and presented with a simple interface.

It's a shame that Smok have sullied a seemingly decent mod by tacking on a feature that doesn't work, if they have to make hardware changes to get it to work then the second hand market for these will be awarded.

I had a fair idea it would happen VapingBad, most of my disappointment comes from the fact that SMOK were perfectly happy to do this again. I haven`t any experience of Yihi`s attempt yet, I can live with the joules thing if it works, no reason why it shouldn`t really. It may even give finer adjustment that would help the flavour advantages that you like.

Oh well it's not much of a surprise. But for an 80w mod that looks nice, it's worth the money. It will be interesting when the temperature study comes out just how much of an issue this is. I suspect not much in normal use, so apart from preventing the burn taste when the tank needs refilling probably not much benefit.

Yes, it is worth the money, well specced for an 80w mod, loads of battery life and looks good, just a pity about the way SMOK are going about things. They should have a panel of trusted vapers to test their stuff and not rely on reviewers who are just happy to get a free mod which then leads to misinformation and downright lies sometimes.

That would be easy enough to do in their factory. Half the factory probably use e cigs and the other half smoke regular fags. If it took you 2 hours to find it didn't work, the engineers who designed this thing should (would) have known before it went into production. I don't know what sort of testing they do on their products, but by the look of it none. The crazy part is that if they had never mentioned TC it still would have sold at that price. And their reputation would not have been torn to shreds.

If/when they do come out with a working TC mod people will run a mile. I know I wouldn't order presale from SMOK unless they were giving it away.

It has one good thing going for it, the fact that it is a good normal 80W mod at a good price even without TC. But that does not excuse cheating people into thinking they are getting something that they aren`t.
