Smok M80 Temperature Mode Help

got a 0.10ohms ni200 coil in the erk clone and I'm getting some dry hits

No current mods measure the actual coil temperature. The dna40 measures the change in resistance of the coil as it heats up and then converts this to a temperature based on the characteristics of the Ni wire.

Basically the SMOK M80 Plus imo is floored in Temp Mode due to the 5-7 sec ramp up time, this time ramp can be slightly reduced if the watts are dramatically increased but still a long ramp up time. I don't know if this behaviour was an addition that SMOK knew about or it is an unknown issue but if using this in temp mode you will need to take an inhale of at least 7-10 secs to get what you are supposed to get from the vape. Hoping Ash myepack will get some answers from SMOK, in the meantime RichardNG has just released a video of the device and he gives a demo of what is happening, watch from 12:50mins

5-7 seconds? That would make the mod totally unusable in temp mode. I can't see something like that getting past even a budget level of QC. Not saying it's impossible, more disappointing.

Yeah this was my thoughts upon attaching the SMOK GTC tank that Ash myepack sent me for review, very disappointing and i am going to post this on SMOK FB page, not sure it will do anything but got to try SMOK need   for this

As you said earlier (or maybe in another thread) richo71, maybe wait for the V2.

Whatever is going on there WILL be a fix, probably via a software update. Still, not a BAD price for an 80Watt mod for now.

Yeah couldn't agree more, the device has got a great price tag and is a beauty to use it is just a shame the temp mode is not working as expected. Just for info I did a reset on the device to see it's reaction and the disply quickly flashes/shows VER 004

Ummmm. Not sure whether to cancel my pre order from Heavens Gifts on this one. Might just cancel and wait to see what happens with these. Looked good though.

If youre purchasing for solely Temp control then i would advise not to buy it at present but it is still a great device for the money

I'm rapidly going off this whole temp sensing malarkey, seems like the chip makers need to put in more work to get it absolutely right before they release these to market all the versions of temp sensing seem really buggy from reports.
I still think it's a great idea, just the implementation needs the bugs ironed out.
I'll be sticking to regular old Kanthal for now until it is.
An 80w regulated box mod for the price though, that's a bargain.

Interesting thread..... still seems a good mod for the money but this offers me nothing I don't already own, only ordered it to see what Smok could do with temp control , looks like they can't do it yet..........! 5-7 seconds....I only draw for about 3....

Could not have said it better myself, although the temp control is buggy i am very happy with the device and i would still buy it again as i am not convinced on temp control/ni200 use either

Yeah a complete 80w box with a 4400mah battery for about the same money as what it costs to buy just the DNA 40 chip on it's own is pretty amazing.
