a youtube reviewer only reviews products if he gets paid?

Agree @odset just about every consumer pastime has its YouTube experts and the most successful of these invariably end up with endorsement deals of some sort or other, Twatter is even worse, anyone with a following and an opinion can get lavished with freebies for a mention or two on their feed.

He can't geordie_vaper.  And we all know that EVERYTHING he reviews is sick as tits.

The only time I ever watch any of his videos is if it's a rebuilding one I need to learn, and then, I HAVE to have the sound on mute!

Payment in cash or payment in terms of 'keep the goods'?

TBH i'm not really that bothered & either could be construed as a vested interest, at least you get chance to have a quick look at stuff before you decide to give it a whirl & i'd never buy anything based on a reviewers opinion who got something 'free for review'.

You can normally pick out the meat & leave the bones of most reviews & i've been saved from one or two lemons that looked good on paper, for that at least i'm grateful to all reviewers.

Depends on how the payment works, if it's a set payment then i really don't care too much, all they're doing is paying him for exposure of their product.
If it's a payment related to sales revenue then they're not only paying for exposure they're paying for a favorable review.
He's not really likely to point out shortcomings a product has if the more it sells the more he gets paid.

Sad to see the latest vape drama exploding all over the forums. As the industry grows more people are going to try and make money from it.
Personally I don't mind a reviewer being paid in some way to look at a product ... as long as they let us know.
This looks like an endorsement not a review so I think people have over reacted. Another common internet phenomenon.
Can't wait to see his response it's probably going to get more clicks than most of his actual reviews.

Did anybody really think he does his reviews for free!
All the products he gets sent, do you think he returns them?
Better the review, better the next freebie.
So he wants paying for a app to use his name, why not? Its his name.
I doubt there is any reviewer with a large enough following who doesn't get freebies.
Impartial reviews are always going to be thin on the ground if you are sent the latest toy, upset the company no new toys, play nice get plenty of new toys.
Not seen many reviews that just state "This sucks" wonder why.
Good luck to him if he can make a living selling on utube, beats working.

Not surprised at all, but as others have said I usually go on reports from forum members and as much research I can do myself, I have never watched a you tube review, possibly me just being cynical, but for some reason or other I always expected a lot to be biased.
