a youtube reviewer only reviews products if he gets paid?

a very very well know reviewer will only review a product if he get paid to do so... i think this is wrong and just seems very iffy what are your opinions on it

I'd do reviews for freebies but folk would get confused by my whatsits and thingys. Plus my lack of detailed farting about and let's not forget my incredible but squint inducing photos! And let's not even go there with my videos

I guess i take issue with it if they present themselves as just a reviewer.

If they're taking payment for it that's a grey area for me, if they have a large audience and a manufacturer wants to get his product seen then i guess they're somewhat justified in asking for a payment and there isn't necessarily an incentive to show bias or mislead viewers about the product, just an incentive to review certain products.

If they're taking payment in the form of a share of sales revenue then that's just blatantly not simply reviewing because then they have an incentive to drive sales.
Then they're really just an infomercial.

In the same way reviewers state a product is received free for review they should also state they are being paid to review items IMO.
