"I don't think he is being paid to review." That is about endorsing an app...

He's being paid to promote an app, doesn't mention a review anywhere.

I don't see what this has to do with being paid for reviews at all...

Still makes him a reviewer in it for the money though doesn't it? Impartiality is suspect in someone who demands an equity share for reviewing products on his app.

This is about an app not his vaping reviews for which he does not get sale shares. He gets the equipment free for review and keeps it after and gives it away via his website nothing wrong or out of the ordinary about it at all. Someone has developed an app and wants to use his image and name those are his property to do with as he wishes. Look it would be wonderful if reviewers could buy every bit of kit out there and give total impartiality but it's not remotely practical and it would surprise many how much work goes into a thirty minute review a lot more then most realise.
Are there people out there wanting their kit reviewed and getting nowhere yes there is because 1, there's only so much time in a week and 2, because a lot of kit coming out is frankly crap and no decent reviewer is going to even give verbal airtime much less video to just review and totally slam because even if you completely trash a piece of rubbish put it on video someone will buy it. If your so concerned about this get yourself a good quality camera, video editing software and diagnostic equipment and start knocking them out remembering of course you might need a bit of time to get proficient with the basics needed before you touch your first bit of kit. Typical internet rubbish from someone looking to have a pop at someone doing well for themselves.

Which personally I see no issue with . . . why shouldn't someone have the opportunity to prosper, if they've worked hard to build up their ' brand '. As for any reviews/reviewers - djs has summed up my own feelings perfectly: It's the 21st century. People are going to make money (internet) doing all sorts of daft stuff, some of it good, some of it bad, some of it downright deceitful. There are plenty of reviewers who review both good universal equipment with one hand and then bogus single brand products with the other. But, worse than that, they make money from sending the uninitiated to certain brands for their own financial gain and yet are somehow revered members of the community. I'd rather somebody with genuine presence and/or charisma got paid to review products and there was no need to hide that fact. I think the established reviews should be paid. Kanger/Innokin/Aspire should be paying the top guys. Without them, they wouldn't be selling MILLIONS of products. As long as these reviewers don't tell us where to buy it, I reckon that is acceptable. Market forces will dictate all the prices, nobody gets done over. Reviewers that make out x, y, z brand are worth buying, and send folk to single brand websites are the ones to look out for. That i.m.o. is not acceptable. Subtle difference...? Not so subtle? The difference to me is important. Whatever our individual points of view are on the topics, lets not fall out over them.

Does it really matter if he gets paid or not? The reason we watch the reviews from anyone is to see either how to use it or if it's any good. I personally see what's wrong whether he's right or wrong with what he does is right or wrong. He is trying get on in life, making a buttie as we say here "mekkin a buttie" proper Oldham I'm in Stalybridge and my mrs works in Shaw At last someone who will understand me if I type how I speak Yeah Dave. Someone who speaks the same lingo as me, not too far away and Shaw is just down the road from me

I dont really care if reviewers get paid to do the reviews, im not paying for them and i would guess most people would be able to work out if the reviewer is not being honest about a product, there is enough out there to get a idea about any item being reviewed.
I look at most reviews as adverts for a product, there are a couple of exceptions though, Todd, Phil and Paul are my go to reviews. Then its a look through the others to see if anything has been missed.

I can honestly say that i haven't looked at a review for months. I have based my main recent purchase purely on what you good folks have said here on the forum, and I'm very happy with my decision, and your helpful comments. I would guess that there are many others out there however who do use them heavily, and I would like to think that they are intelligent enough to spot the difference between someone reviewing in a positive vein for financial recompense and someone who is raving about a product because it is worth raving about. If RipTrip has been approached by an app developer wanting to use his image and name, why on earth shouldn't RT ask for some sort of fee? After all, without his name it will undoubtedly do less well. Just my opinions for what they are worth, but following this thread with interest.

As long as the reviews are genuine and impartial despite any supposed monetary incentive I honestly don't care if the guy gets paid.

I'm going to dip my toe in here ....waits for the severe beating from seasoned vapers Personally although I have lurked here for a couple of years and would regard myself as a newbie in the vaping world compared to some of you gungho vaping armoured peeps. Tease-smiley Personally I do hunt down reviews of both sponsored, pretending not sponsored and the reviewers with hardly any subscribers BUT most importantly this forum is my tipping point of any decision being made for purchases. So personally I don't care if someone is making a few quick quid from spouting rubbish, generally I can spot it. I think most can see through the payment or equipment in kind reviews and let's face it most of us wait for the feedback from the "in the know from here" before we launch our hard earned cash in to a new shiny. The best people to review are the non-known little old me's of this world But beware I'm a Yorkshire lass and say it like it is and don't care if you pay me or send me freebies. My opinion will be my personal experience, good or bad. ...waits for letterbox to explode with gadgets to review

I have not read all thread, my view is, something new looks ok, wait 1 month and watch forum, if it's pants or has problems threads will appear, if they don't buy it.

I'd do reviews for freebies but folk would get confused by my whatsits and thingys. Plus my lack of detailed farting about and let's not forget my incredible but squint inducing photos! And let's not even go there with my videos I would definitely pay to see a review by you spikey. And if you say "holibobs" you can name your price.
