Evening mixers,
Made my first couple of mixes 2 weeks ago and a few more last weekend with reasonable success, chucked a few down the sink and a couple of real nice ones. The tricky ones I have at the moment though are a cherry cola and a strawberry lemonade - both are tasty enough but really really harsh on the throat, like vaping sandpaper after a couple of hits. Have tried At low ohms and at higher ohms on different at ties and drippers but always this harsh, peppery hit.
Does anyone have any tips for toning down that real harsh throat hit they both exhibit. Both are 6mg Nic and 60vg/40pg mixes??

Strange one this as 60vg/40pg and 6mg nic shouldn't be anywhere near harsh. Are you sure you've got the right ratios in the Mix.

sydsut pretty sure my mix was correct. Thinking about it the only thing I did differently was put them in a jug of hot water to heat them up before shaking as the vg was very gloopy. Perpetua I haven't added anyhthing else to them, both simple recipes, the cherry cola was 3% flavour art cola and 1.5 dark cherry so that's all thats in it other than pg vg and nic, I have sweetener and ethyl maltose as additives so might try splitting the remaining juice and try some in each half, otherwise it's going down the sink

I'd try 1% sweetener . . . and probably a higher ratio for the EM canderwood. Though with only 4.5% overall flavouring, then it's a possibility the base flavour of your nicotine isn't being ' covered ' by such a low ratio and could account for the peppery taste you're getting.

High acidic pH, ethyl maltol is your friend

Never, ever, chuck anything you have mixed down the sink! You must be prepared to leave some juice for at least a month if not longer before judging if it's rubbish or not, and even then, it is recoverable if you have some menthol or mint which you can add to salvage it. As most commercial juices are mixed at around 15% flavouring I wonder if Perpetua is right when she says that such a low percentage is not masking the peppery taste of plain nicotine base. Try again, it's all part of the fun, and up the concentrate %ages quite considerably, it will make a real difference. If it's of any use, I mix one-shot concentrates at 15% to begin with, and then adjust from there.

If your concentrates are alcohol based its very possible you get that harsh feeling in the first day. I propose you leave the cup off for one day and then try again. Strawberry and cherry flavors (from some companies) give a hard kick in the first days on a mix.

+1for a bit of sweetener and MTS vape wiz. Great one to have in mixing box. Some RECs I have made have been yukky until steeped for a couple of months and then they are fabulous. I have some custards over 7 months steeped and these are for special vapes only lol. I have a tobacco vape steeping atmo in a whisky bottle that had a drop left in it, smells divine hehe.

Thanks for the tips folks, have added a couple of drops EM to the cherry cola and sweetener to the lemonade. I'll let it sit for 24hrs and try them again. Next time I order some concentrates I will add some vape wizard to my basket so at least I have it available if needed.
If all that fails I will look at increasing the favour percentages but the ones I mixed at around the 15% mark I found way too strong so maybe have gone a bit too far the other way. Guess thats the fun of this hobby - finding the sweet spot..

I would agree that you're just not flavouring it enough to mask the basic ingredients, there aren't many concentrates you can use in such small proportions
