Bury black pudding is a very, very fine congealed blood comestible (albeit in a quite limited field), with those glistening white cubes of fat.

If you buy one to eat immediately off the Bury market stall, you are obliged to douse it in black pepper and mustard.

Damn close but it's got to be a plain loaf, no a pan loaf. And it's bramble jelly which is bramble jam just ready and while still hot left to strain through a bilerman's clairty semmit overnight to get aw ra wee bits oot.

Yes, they're my all time favourite black pud. Here, they're tasty, if you get one with onion, but most cook into slop.

Erm...no mustard, ta, I'm a wuss! Black pepper I can deal with!

Pickled walnuts are wonderfull, also the vinigar they are pickled in is fantastic when added to stews and gravy, only a teaspoon but it has the unami effect on taste buds .
Really rounds a dish off.

I don't think I've ever had a pickled walnut. Are they easy to get in supermarkets or a deli?>

Does the pickling process soften the walnut up? I like the taste of walnuts, but feel as though I'm chewing bits of wood that I can't swallow.
