Sorry I didn't reply @yavape, just got back to the desk, an easy way to get the rayon through especially if using thin wire is to use double the length & half the thickness, pass a loop of kanthal through the coil, thread the rayon through this so the bit of kanthal is in the middle then pull the kanthal back the way it came causing the rayon to fold in half and pull through the coil.

Brilliant got you I'll loop it through the coil and pull the rayon through so it needs to be nice and tight with the rayon , I'll follow the pics the best I can , as soon as the rayon gets here I shall have a go , thanks for all the help

Edit forgot to say this is wicked with jap cotton pads not the muji cotton. @yavape have you got some jap cotton and muji cotton? What's the difference? I just ordered some muji. 3 bags at a great price which should last me ages if I get on with it. Previously have been using some jap cotton Pads I got from Vape atomizer mesh co. Which I really rate but couldn't resist giving the muji a bash at that price...

Less is more, as said, with cotton. This is a twisted 0.32mm build around a 2mm bit (I think, although probably actually around a syringe needle) all wicked up with a Japanese cotton pad... Clapton coil before adding the wick :

I just don't understand why people worry about wicking material. All it does is bring juice to the coil. You shouldn't even notice what the wick is made of if it is wicking juice. Granted, if you get a dry hit and burn the wick it matters. But then you will re-wick anyway. No? They all taste c**p when they burn. Am I missing something?

I find that the cotton pads wick better with heavier VG juices the muji is good on 50/50 juices that's for me personally.

But, saying that, I use 70% vg in my home brew, and that wicks fine in my ST and GT2. If I wick too tight I get a dry hit, but that is my fault.

Well i noticed a massive boost in flavour when stepping up from using bog standard cotton balls to the japanese cotton pads. Could be partly due to the fact it tastes great pretty much straight away with very little time needed to break it in. Also the properties of the material and its ease of use play a bearing. I don't like rayon or sillica stuff much. Rayon is squeaky to the touch and the feel of it creeps me out, also made me feel ill when i vaped with it. Sillica is a pain to work with, difficult to cut, and don't trust the dust that come off it when you cut it, wouldn't want to be inhaling that. I guess all wicking materials have pro and cons, i don't really see why you wouldn't have any concern at all about the properties of what is probably one of the main things that could make a difference to the quality of your vape...

Ok. To be fair, I have only ever used cotton. Muji came with my ST mini, and some free when I bought some Kanthal. But I have used cotton wool balls from my OH's make-up box. As long as it doesn't contain bleach (poisonous) and you don't dry hit/burn it, how would you know the difference?

Think you'd know the difference by how good a taste you get... with the fibers all running straight with the jap cotton stuff the juice gets through more directly leading to a cleaner taste i think
