Just wondering if this is just a normal attack or is it gingivitis something anyone else has had.
Past 10 days gums have been flaring up and sore, usually using rising with salt water and Cordsyl sorts it out, but its getting worse and tonight I cannot even bare to touch a tooth as it hurts so badly - its not my teeth themselves just the gums.
Never had it so bad. Could it be an allergic reaction to PG - seen it mentioned on here, but not the symptoms, a clearing out of gums from not smoking or just a co-incidence that having a flare Gingivitis, part of gum is actually quite swollen but funnily it is one place that is not hurting.
Got to look at the silver lining, I cannot eat anything that involves chewing so might actually lose some weight.

{{{Preppy}}} Bleeding gums are very commonly reported by new vapers, Prep, but maybe not such a severe reaction as you've had. It really should ease off. Just wait till later today, you should get more responses. There's nothing I would advise other than what you're doing.

I also had it its not very nice at all, it went away thank goodness, as Chrissie says, it should ease off, it seems to be very common when people pack in the nasties.

Thanks, I see it is mentioned on stop smoking sites but they talk more of bleeding than pain, and there is not much bleeding just pain and feeling they are on fire ( that is mentioned), but just wasn't sure if I was aggravating my gums with the PG - I have no intention of stopping vaping no matter what pain I get, I am not going back to nasties, but wondered if I should try something that is high VG as all the e-liquids I have at the moment are higher PG. Living on soups for a bit will not do me any harm at all.

I found that some of the fruity juices made my gums sore - I assumed it was the acidity in them. Could it be that?

I as yet have not tried any of the fruit flavours. I think it is just normal and as I get Gingivtis from time to time its just worse than most people get when stopping nasties. I am going to order a couple of VG based e-liquids just to see if that makes a difference, but throat is not sore and no rashes so I doubt now its PG causing it. I hadn't gone for just VG as I don't want much vapour but if it helps I will gladly put up with the vapour. I actually wish I could vape without the vapour, sounds daft doesn't it

It does sound a tad daft to me cos I love the vapour so much You can also buy PEG based e-liquids, never tried them myself, but I should think they wont give as much vapour as VG juices.

AIUI you can get tested very easily at the doctors for allergy to PG. I would ring your local surgery and see what they say. At least you know then.

I'd think it's likely to be a reaction to not smoking ciggies Prep . . . the circulation/sensitivity is now coming back to your gums, which the chemicals in cigs inhibit . . . the most common reason for smokers losing their teeth, according to my Dentist.

I had something similar to this last time I quit nasties, using patches, and quite embarrassingly it did turn out to be gum disease. They would hurt all the time, bleed sometimes, and always bleed badly when brushing. Aparently something in cigarettes masks the symptons of gum disease. Used corsodyl for about a month (well actually the much cheaper alternative from home bargains) and it went away, I started smoking again 5 months later, but as of yet, this time around I've been fine.

i think PEG actually gives alot of vapour like VG but with the viscosity of PG I found PEG to be half-way between PG and VG and I liked it, but you can't get it in such variety and in big cheap bottles

Thanks everyone, sorry am so late replying. I have to go to doctors next week so will ask then until then will keep on with the Cordsyl and salt water rinises, plus usually brushing and stick to soup. It most likely is my poor old gums not knowing how to deal with so much oxygen and fresh blood after me smoking for so long.
I know I sound daft saying I would be happy to vape without the vapour but so long as I get a good hit and taste am not bothered about clouds of vapour.

It's whatever works for you really with vaping Prep . . . no rules as such to it . . . if you wanted to stand on your head to vape, we wouldn't bat an eye lid. After all, we cope with the knowledge that River is always buck nekkid when he's on the forum!

Hey prep, i thought my gum disease was under control, but since stopping the ciggies I've been getting some bleeding from my gums, and some soreness where my problem was worse (lost a tooth to it a couple of years ago and was told I could loose more if I continued to smoke ) I think it's probably down to more oxygen reaching the gums now but I think we need to be careful to keep up our water intake up as anything that can dry the mouth out isn't good for gum health. i do honestly think tho that vaping has to be much better than smoking and I really like the throat hi from PG but I'm thinking that perhaps more VG would be better, not sure though, still on a steep learning curve
