Genuine Nitecore D4s appear to be okay. Unfortunately it looks like a very good clone. One the clone, the word "Worldwide" is spelt "Worldwidc" on the packaging. That`s all I know so far, spotted on vereybowring`s FB page.

Thank you for your interest in Nitecore's product, you can verify your product by referring to information on www.nitecore.com/newsDetail.aspx?id=367, the product in the pictures is an i4, but the same applies to D4.

Received a reply from Nitecore today, this is their guide enabling you to check if your cgarger is genuine (or not), my FT one seems to be OK, I've done the first test (remember to check the POSITIVE contact).

I might open mine up and do the 2nd check later.

That ID check is for the i4 charger. In the case of this D4 the board check is totally irrelevant, as the boards are not the same. And after they were caught with the magnet test on the old i4 I don't think any faker would be using steel.

That's exactly how I see it. How many fakers got the spelling right?

Well, at least you know if your`s is misspelt it IS a fake. If the board doesn`t have Nitecore capacitors in it it`s probably a fake as well. I doubt whether anyone would go to the bother of cloning capacitors with it being inside the charger.

It's only shrink wrap robby, and really cheap to make. If you don't have a genuine to compare with a fake wrapper could easily pass as genuine. We need Nitecore to publish some clear HD photos of the real thing for us to compare against.

I agree robby, and that's a shame.

My initial thoughts was for Nitecore to serialise their future products. But then, as Aspire and Innokin have found out serials get cloned too. Even electronic serials get cloned easily enough. How many vamos have the same serial number?

As per company policy, I can only buy from authorized outlets, to be sure everything I buy for any job is exactly what is wanted/specced.

I think the magnet check is going to find most of them and pretty easy to do if you have a magnet, personally I would trust the capacitor check, but that`s just me.

That is only for the i4 and useless for the D4.
