I first started vaping nearly three years ago, and despite lots of efforts with vivi novas, genesis atomisers, mech mods & the like never managed to get completely off the cigarettes. I used to find the genesis & even a trident RDA far too airy & with 24mg nic I still wasn't getting what I needed. I even made up some 40mg juices for use in my Kayfun clones, still not good enough. Essentially I gave up trying and went back to the ciggies full time.
Wind forward & my how things have changed. Subtanks, wide bored RDAs (got a mutation V3) and full lung inhales. Suddenly it all seems to work for me, 6mg of nic with straight to lung really hits the spot. Took a little bit of effort to get through the coughing & settling on a nic level, but the clouds and the flavours....wow
I don't see very much advice to newbies (I'm a re-newbie) on the differences between inhalation techniques and what an incredible difference it can make to the vaping experience. IMHO you also need to match your atomiser and nic levels to your style of inhalation.
How do you vape? and on what type of device? Mouth to lung or straight down? High nic or low nic?
Curious to see if my experience is common

I lung inhale only. I'm not so sure this is for newbies though and I suspect you're in the minority regarding being not satisfied with mouth to lung. Most people I believe start MTL and many never progress beyond that yet have remained ciggy free for many years. I think it's a bit of a I want bigger, better man thing to be honest. I managed just fine for over a year with MTL and had no desire to smoke again in that time but was intrigued to try direct lung and after the initial spluttering it's great but for most it's unlikely a necessity to quit tabs and stay off them

I`m mouth to lung, always have been, about 18 watts with a dripper on a TC device. All I have ever looked for is a similar experience to cigarettes. The similarity was very important to me and made the transition very easy. I have always used 18mg tobacco flavours. The big change for me was the use of drippers, loads of flavour and a comparable amount of vapor to the smoke I used to exhale after a drag. A 50ml bottle lasts me about 12 to 14 days. I buy Hangsen Virginia from China which amounts to less than 40p a day. I dont need clouds, apart from anything else I think it is a negative influence when seen by none smokers and I want to see vaping thrive and get more smokers off the fags. Many will disagree with me on that though

I started vaping last November using an Evod kit i got from a local newsagents, i did manage to quit but i knew there had to be a better option and came online looking because the nearest vape shop to me is miles away. Started watching reviews and tutorials on Youtube then looked up UK forums, this happened to be the first place i tried, that was last Christmas. After lots of reading and watching videos i decided on my first mod setup a Sigelei 50w V2 and an original Subtank which was the newest beast on the market at the time, what a difference. I immediately cut my nic from 18 - 24mg down to 6mg and haven't gone back to mouth to lung vaping since. Now all i need to do is break the mod gear addiction, i've accrued about 35 mods and more RDA's,RBA's and sub ohm clearos in that short six months than i care to count

I used to direct lung inhale the cigs, so I've always done the same with vaping. Sub ohm and dripping I cut the nic down to 9, but on something like the nautilus its 12. I've never been able to mouth to lung as it's always killed my throat

I started on Mouth to lung at first, but since all these "Sub Ohm" tanks came on the market I switched to Lung only, reducing Nic strength from 18mg to 3mg.

Both. Mouth to lung on a SquapeR and direct to lung with the Smok VCT.
It'll always depend on the tank/coil.

I lung inhale so that my vape experience is as far removed from smoking as I can make it.

mouth to lung all the way, i like a nice relaxing vaping experience with smooth controled inhales. with direct lung inhaling it feels more like chore and not relaxing

I started on bud tanks, ego tanks and vision stardust tanks some years ago and that got me of the days but only briefly. When I restarted last year, protanks and cotton wicks were the rage which I enjoyed but second go around was not enough so was dual fueling for a few months until I discovered the kayfun!
Mouth to lung for me, I like the control

Curious to see if my experience is common The post made me look at what I do and I think I must be a bit weird. When i use my KF (which is most of the time), I tend to do 5-6 mouth to lung inhales on the same breath, probably because the KF is a bit tight for a direct lung inhale without turning blue in the face. I guess you could say it was A SEMI No scrub that. On a dripper its different, with more airflow its a straight to lung inhale. So I would say I'm a full lung inhaler, but use different styles to make it work for me depending on atty I used. I think it would be hard to advise one way or another. You just have to find what works for you. You could advise a lung hit for more satisfaction, but that person may end up on the floor for the next 5 mins trying to catch their breath

Thanks for sharing guys. It seems to me that one of the interesting facets of vaping is the way you can tailor the experience to your personal preference. It's almost infinitely variable, devices, batteries, juice flavours & strengths, & even how you choose to inhale, all make a difference. Each to their own, and it's a fascinating voyage of discovery to determine what works for you. Still on my voyage, and whilst I'm sure I will never buy another cigarette, I can't wait for the next innovation to try out. Just ordered a TC mod, just a DovPro, but will be on the lookout for the next shiny (or carbon fibre) thing that robby finds a good deal on. In the meantime looking at how to coil nickel although it now seems titanium is the way forward. Interesting & exciting times

I'm just a wee old-fashioned wumman...I still use Protanks & puff away quite happily...no direct lung hits for me obviously...but what I'm doing is keeping me off the stinkies - so quite happy pootling along
