Hi everyone,

Just a quick thread to say hello and a bit about me and my short journey to here; it may help someone who is thinking of packing in the fags.

I'm 50 (dont you younguns laugh! if your lucky; it will arrive faster than you will believe ;-) live it and enjoy it, live life in the moment.

I'm new to vaping, was an heavy smoker since 13 (yup misguided youth) read a lot about e-cigs but didnt understand them and decided to give it a go.

The missus had mentioned stopping smoking and I was like hello, I want to stop on my terms and not anyone elses, So I decided I was going to stop smoking and bought a couple of evod e cigs what you fill yourself and some juice, non nicotine!, yikes first mistake (non nicotine), then sourced 18mg 12 mg and 6mg, I must admit I was worried the nic strength wouldn’t be enough to help me stop smoking. when I say I was an heavy smoker I mean heavy and when having a drink I think I would take as much smoke as oxygen lol bad but thats how it was..

Anyhow I didnt tell any of my family I was going to stop, less pressure on me ;-) and decided on Thu 30th April that Fri May 1st was the start date and that I'd take it hour by hour.

I must admit 18mg I didnt like it and quickly jumped to 12mg, it worked and having had a fag free Friday on the Sat I moved to 6mg nic, it tasted better and no fag cravings - The missus was still smoking and by Sat night mentioned she hadnt seen me smoking, I let her and the family know I hadn’t had a fag since Thu night (very observant hey ;-) bless her, her face was a picture and she blurted out that she was going to stop but only after finishing off all the baccy we had first and It seemed to me the missus took every opportunity to smoke around me - it tickled me as it didnt bother me in the slightest and when she got to the last 50g pouch the qs started; how was I finding it, I explained I dont miss fags there is no craving with these, here try it -cough splutter - I mentioned blow some out before inhaling like when you started smoking, she didnt like it and I mentioned try a different flavour which she did and was quite taken by it.

Fast forward to now - we are both happily non smokers, short time and a bold statement,  I know for a fact I wont ever return to smoking ciggies, I was a previously failed stop smoker who had stopped for 6 months and had a major relapse with a lot of crap (divorce) occurring in my life and can hand on heart say it was the biggest single mistake I did at that time to resort to fags as they didn’t help and I was smoking more than ever.

A change and a lesson Not all DIY e liquids are the same..

Anyhow, I was lucky and found an ebay seller whose juices I liked and I am an avid vanilla custard lover and the seller changed it, bloody hell, not happy about this it tasted weaker and it was then I decided I was going to start making my own I can have full control of the taste and having read various forums about making your own LOL, realised I had purchased some crap juices and also some more reputable if yet more expensive juices than I needed to after reading this forum, which lead me to join last night as there is lots of good info here.

I'm not into modding, I love the mixing and testing however I dont have the patience to let it sit long enough (steeping) I mix 30ml throw it in the microwave for 10 secs and its off lol not so good with custard as you will see a lot of folks steep for weeks and months - I dont have the patience (that reads quite brattish). read and read some more, I regret not finding and joining this forum quicker, I would have saved some cash and bought better and quicker (is that even English! ;-)

Anyone thinking of stopping smoking-seriously do it, I tried patches gum and everything else under the sun and was seriously thinking the only way I'd be able to stop again was if I was placed into suspended animation (put to sleep) for 3 months LOL.

you probably wont believe after reading that lot ;-) I'm normally a man of few words but I did want to say hello and let anyone else whom was considering stopping smoking its quite easy and enjoyable my real name is Martin.. Hello ;-)

almost 52 here and after 35 years i gave up in february and havnt looked back since.
i have 18mg stealth hit at work for the stress but 90% the rest of the time im on 0 nicotine so anything is possible.

Congratulations to you and your wife whiteclouds I smoked about 100g of drum or old holborn a week at the end, but I started smoking when I was 12, 43 years later I got an ego and ce5 kit. 2 1/2 years later I haven't had a ciggie since the day I bought it.

Congratulations to you and your good lady for finding that vaping/ecigs are indeed a very credible alternative to smoking  . . . speaking as a ' hardened ' ex smoker who hasn't sparked up in over 5 years now.
