I mentioned in my intro I do 10 sec (30ml glass bottle) in a microwave then vape what quick steeping method do you do and what works best I'm quite interested in Ultrasonic steeping that might be another payday pressie I've read about people using drills with attachments (is it any good, does it work with custard??) I dont have the patience or foresight of Perpetua (I must try harder) so what works best for you

Most of the stuff I mix is fruit based, menthol based or one shot concentrates all of which need little steeping. Many on here swear by ultrasonic, but particularly with custards the best way is to mix and leave for a couple of months, so mix enough that you can have a steady supply!

+1 for Perpetua 's post, you cant beat the old time system, just make a little more the next time to allow you a months grace, you'll always have some ready to go and you WILL notice the difference (at least with custard), I plan on making a magnetic stirrer in the near future, despite what people say it WONT speed up the steeping process, but it WILL save a lot of heavy shaking

I've tried all the above, and come to the conclusion, that it's a all about time. I have a to vape draw and a to steep draw, both have the same juices. By the time I've finished one, the rotation starts again. I know it's tempting to mix and vape, as said above, fruits are usually good to go, but anything else "time is your friend"

I should also add that heat degrades nicotine, so your microwave method not only DOESN'T speed steep but it can change the whole structure of the nicotine, AND decrease its potency.... BUT... the heat will lower the viscosity of the VG and make it easier to mix, so all you are really doing is mixing it a little quicker and reducing your nic content.

Can't help you there, I'm of the very patient team, mixed, in the box and forgotten about.

I use a mini whisk type thing in my drill and blast the mix for a good 2 mins, this really helps speed things along but is absolutely no substitute for time unfortunately.

I'm with all the others here. Do whatever you like to speed up the actual mixing process, but steeping ONLY works wirh time. I'm going to have to get more organised in this game with custard, a 100ml mix aint going to cut it lol The trick is not to make a huge batch, but to make small batches regularly. If you vape 30ml a week for example, make 30 ml every week and rotate it as described above, that way you will always have some properly steeped liquid coming of age

Nothing to add to the above, apart from.... I currently do not vape anything that's less than 6 months steeped (some - like custards, are around a year old). Look on it as you would an aged Port or Malt Whisky.... To achieve "Quality" takes time! I know it takes what seem like "light years" to get there, but, if you just put some away every time you have a mix, you will soon get there. Sitting Vaping 14 month old "Blueberry Muffin" - and it is the "Dogs Do-Dahs".

I plan on making a magnetic stirrer in the near future, despite what people say it WONT speed up the steeping process, but it WILL save a lot of heavy shaking I built a magnetic stirrer a few years ago for brewing, it works well and will stir a gallon demi john easily! I built it from a computer case cooling fan (4"), a steel 2p coin and a magnet from an old hard drive. Never used it for E-liquid, but I agree that that only way to "mature" is time (min 4 weeks). Forget the Ultrasonic as a method of fast steeping . . . . great for cleaning, but rubbish for that whiteclouds. Don't steep in glass bottles either - as glass inhibits the degradation of eliquid, similarly it will inhibit the steeping process. There is no substitute for time and a little patience if you want to get the best results from home mixing Custard and Dessert Flavours. Perpetua I use brown glass bottles for steeping liquids where I do larger quantities, what are the implications of this and should I change to a large plastic bottle. Will it slow down the steeping process or stop the fusion ? Confused of Leeds

Confused of Leeds Using glass bottles for steeping will slow down the process, especially if you're mixing Dessert/Custard flavours goneforagasper . . . . Fruits/Mints, then using glass is unlikely to make any noticeable difference to the time. Plastic is porous, so it allows the eliquid within to ' breathe ' . . . . which in turn helps with the blending/infusing. Glass, especially Amber is great for long term storage as it helps prevent the degradation of nicotine & flavour. But there's no actual need to use it if you're planning on using your mixes within a couple of years and storing them sensibly.
