I finally took the plunge and actually bought my e-cig over a month ago and have been struggling to get to grips with it, (it's The One Kit from UK Ecig Store.) After watching a few videos, I've realised that there should be a little bit of rubber inside the mouthpiece which isn't there... the first few times I used it, it was so harsh I nearly doubled over coughing! Went back on the cigs for a few weeks, but tried to persevere, (very naughty... I tried putting a slim Swan filter in the end of the mouthpiece, which did help! but I was worried that wasn't good for it, so only did that every now and again.) It seems to be getting easier, (still have a few roll-ups a day, but have cut back.) I am confused by the instructions and all the e-liquids out there, but I'll save that for another day. Just wanted to drop in and say hello, really!

tipsyturtle sorry to hear you've had troubles with vaping, the kit you bought is pretty basic. It can do the job though, i quit using something similar it's just there are better options, i just say that so you're aware before you buy the same again. A decent inexpensive tank which will work with the battery you have would be something like the Kanger Protank Mini 3, the V2 version even comes with an airflow control so you can have a tighter or looser draw. myepack.co.uk/clearomizers/mini-protank-3-v2.htmlSo if you just wanted to replace the tank and keep using the battery you have then that would be a better option than the current style of tank you are using. The seal is just to prevent the tank from leaking it shouldn't affect how it vapes at all. Two things that can make the vape harsh are high PG content and high nicotine content. Some of the more commercial brands like Blu for example use 100% PG for their liquids, look for something that is 50/50 PG/VG and maybe try going down one level on the nicotine.

Welcome to you tipsyturtle. In the days of early ecigs & cartridges we used to use filter tips as a means of absorbing eliquid and vaping through - so it wouldn't be the first time a tip has been used for our purposes. You may also find it helps to change your inhalation style a little when vaping as opposed to smoking, try taking a puff and holding the vapour in your mouth for a few moments before taking it down/exhaling. You can also dilute your eliquid with a little Vegetable Glycerin, also used in Home Baking - most large supermarkets sell dinky bottles in the Bakery aisles. It'll give you a softer vape, though you'll weaken your flavour strength a little doing that.

Thanks for the welcome, and all the advice! The liquid I'm using is the one that came free with the kit, (the man in the shop recommended it) it's 'Tobacco', made by UK ecig and the bottle says it's 0.8% (8mg) and is 70%pg and 30% vg. Obviously I don't have any idea what all this means. Although I think vg is vegetable glycerin?

Welcome tipsyturtleAt first, Vaping can be a little harsh and worryingly dehydrating too. I once tried using a Swan Filter in a drip tip, so fools rarely differ great minds think alike. Guessing you smoked roll-ups, 8mg liquid may not do the trick, but never say never. I know a lady that just bought 6mg (because she didn't know anything about liquids) and started vaping and never looked back. UKecigstore are widely un-admired in the community. They had a bad, bad (oh, so bad) reputation for customer service and don't exactly try to keep down the prices, so I'd recommend jumping ship onto the HMS Bargains and Shiny ASAP. (Their liquids and accessories are a dreadful price, especially atomizer replacements). Otherwise, Enjoy!

tipsyturtle. If you are looking for good inexpensive juices where you can decide the level of nicotine and can try them without breaking the bank I've found LiQuid to be a good option, Link below. Onepundeliquid

tipsyturtle the shop at the top of town in Andover were very helpful. The prices were high compared to online shops but they do let you try samples of different juice and strengths. You do not need to buy any but would a couple of quid hurt as I am sure everyone here has spent a fortune on juice in the early days and it still lives in the back of the cupboard There is also a stall on the Saturday market

I started with tobacco flavours but to be honest i never did find one that really mimicked the taste of smoking very well and i didn't really enjoy them, then i tried some different flavours, fruits, desserts etc and found those much nicer.

tipsyturtle - hi and a warm welcome from me too! Don't panic, we all have to start somewhere, and if the device that you currently have is working, albeit partially, and you are cutting back on the stinkies, then you have made an excellent start, well done. A slightly better tank will certainly make a difference to your vaping experience, and if you are happy with the strength of your current juice, then all is just fine. If however you think that you still need a fag or two to satisfy your cravings, then try going up to 12mg or even 18mg (that's the same as saying 1.2% or 1.8%, BTW!) - the important thing to remember now is that it has been officially stated by Public Health England that e-cigs are 95% better for you than smoking, and nicotine is not poisonous or dangerous to you (no more so than drinking coffee, that is!), so vaping a higher strength juice won't do you any harm whatsoever, and you can always drop down again in a couple of months. Hope this helps, and ask away if you have any questions, we are here to help
