Right this is a bit weird my keyboard just stopped working, I did a search on e-bay they didn't have what I wanted so I linked to another site and when I tried to do the same search it wouldn't work after a few ??? moments I realised it was the keyboard that wasn't working. At first I thought it was like the keys are stuck together but only some of them, some of them are acting normally and some are just not working the bottom row is fine apart from M: zxcvbn,./ 123 but all the rest are messed up do I need to replace the keyboard or is it something more simple? I will admit to having a slight spillage but that was mostly over the corner nearest to me on keyboard so that rules that out , my other thought is could it be the vapour I keep releasing over it , I suppose if it works tomorrow that will prove that ....... I've hooked up a USB keyboard to lappy so I can type but its annoying.... I also lost my Q giving the keyboard a clean

Sounds to me like it's the slight spillage that has caused your problems , I would suggest putting your lappy in a nice warm airing cupboard ( if they still exist ) for a few days to dry things out , failing that I would suggest you have a bill on your hands for a repair , failing that buy a new lappy

That was not what I was hoping to hear lol ! Weird the spillage is the only part of the Keyboard working which is why I was asking the question I know a man who will do it for nothing but cost of the keyboard (nought if he can get it at work) but he is a busy man so might take a while.....

Kirsty, can you prise the keys of that aren't working to see if there any cat hairs/crumbs etc underneath? If you pull them off gently, they are fairly easy to replace

Be careful with some laptop keys once pulled off they are impossible to put back on. What laptop do you have? Replacing them is normally very easy (pull some bits of plastic up, pull out connection and repeat). If you let me know I will see if I can find you one

Chrissie - I am shocked I thought you'd be the last person to blame the cat lol! Perpy- thanks Tim - thanks as well , hopefully my local guy will pull it off but if not I will keep you in mind
Really annoying though I've typed a reply to the suspected spammer twice now and done something stupid at the end and the web page has scrolled back so not been able to finish , although I am just getting on my soap-box and probably wouldn't do any good anyway but I do hate the forum getting clogged by such rubbish

I broke the X on my old netbook, the little connectors underneath broke as I prised off the key so it wouldn't snap back on again My current lappy has gaps between the keys so I'm bound to get crumbs in it, have a mini vacuum cleaner but it had to be held together with sticky tape 5 minutes after I got it > When I was a smoker I had another one but if I tried to vacuum fag-ash it went straight thru the little collecting bag That's an idea - anyone know of a really good laptop vacuum cleaner?

That's an idea - anyone know of a really good laptop vacuum cleaner? I tend to just prise the plastic trim up, unplug it and take the whole thing off and give it a good smack on the desk (gently) to get the crud out, there are laptop cleaners but 2 mins with a small screwdriver and it's more effective (and cleaner).

Thank you, Macca, I've put that on my wish-list - can the nozzle come off to help it get between keys? Just to let you know, I have horrible PC probs and am trying to galvanise myself to start a thread. And I HAVE CLONED MY HARD DRIVE with Todo. At last!

It comes with a crevice tool and the nozzle does detach and so does the hose.
It's all push fit. It's a dinky little thing but I only use it because someone put it on my desk. At home, I just use my Dyson's crevice tool and clean them and nothing is better. I only posted that because you wanted something specific.
Great stuff with the TODO backup. It's a nifty little piece of freeware. Post about your problems and if I think I can help, I 'll be sure to do so.
